For 15K just get a pair of 6x9 on a MDF rear deck and a pair of coax in the front driven by a Pio 3950 or something like that.

All this damping-vamping stuff is for when you have a sub and amps and all that stuff.

Or do you already have the Dynamat with you? The Xtreme Bulk Pak retails for $200 abroad.
Hi B&T,

I will have a set of 4 sheets of Dynamat extreme reaching me from the US this weekend. But am afraid, Dynamat seems like a different breed of application.

My HU is Alpine 9883 with JBL GTO-927 Fronts & Infinity 6X9 Rears for now.

One other rationale for Dynamat is to ensure optimum utlisation of the HVAC as well.

Appreciate all your help here.

Cheers,

oh goody good - this thread is on exactly something I was wondering about!

Is there any way of knowing in advance whether you need damping for a particular setup or do you just have to test-fit the equipment at the time of installation and then see if anything rattles?

For example, I am thinking of getting components in the front with an amplifier, and running the whole thing by a mp3 player and not a HU. The car is a Zen Estilo. So would I need damping?

Hi Navin,

A couple of quick q's again

1. I now have a choice of damping the car with my existing Dynamat Etreme OR the Llumar dealer in Bandra is willing to exchange them for WURTH damping ( inclusive of labour charges )

Is WURTH worth it.??

2. Between Apline 9887 and Blau Memphis - what is the recomended HU.?

These HUs will power a simple set up of Infinity Kappa 6x9 rears and Kappa 5 1/2 for the front doors.

Appreciate some help here.

Cheers

It is not worth it. I think Dynamat Extreme is one of the better damping materials I have seen. Certainly the best I have used. I have not used everythig available. However it is expensive, mor so in India. Use it and be happy.

The Alpine 9887 is considered one of the best all round HUS out there. By that I mean better HUs play CDs better but do not have MP3 capability or the ability to control an ipod etc...I have not heard the Memphis but given the 9887's reputation I'd stick to it.

It would be better, if you mention your budget and your requirements (e.g. sub-woofer, amplifier etc...), so that things are quite easy to filter out....

Please refer to this link also. It might help you

Vibzez which Car you installed all these, your car needs serious changes, looks like someone take you for a ride.Too many spekers crumpled.
I think 2 components at front 2 coxes at rear and one wofer will do preety decent job along with one or two amps.

Hi Mahesh, welcome to Team-BHP ICE. It is not difficult to procure JBL or Pioneer equipment in Mysore, if that is where you're based. Pioneer is a good choice for HU and a decent one for amplifiers. Please try to avoid Sony for any equipment and Pioneer for speakers.

You can get a demo of my JBLYfied Baleno in Mysore, PM me and we'll discuss this.

vibezez, you'll need a complete revamp of the system. Sorry to see that someone has made a mess there with very bad equipment. You'll have to spend quite a bit and replace most of the stuff in that setup.

How much did you say you have on your credit card before it gets maxed out?

vibzez, to this is one of the most weird and horrible install jobs I've seen:

You'll have to remove the enclosure, the speakers and the subs.

Please get rid of those fake Pio TS-20 tweeters, the fake amplifier and the Blues amplifier.
