In your HU you can only set it to the preset frequencies. I suggest 80Hz.

MF, does your HU allow you change the slope of the HU?
if not use 80Hz.

LBM, the lower frequency we select the more emphasis on Bass or HPF setting is for a different parameter?? I am not sure about this info?

ya one can say that.. the lower the cutoff freq more the bass it will give. higher the freq less bass it will give. and it will also depend on the slope of the freq which will alter the sound also.

Navin, what do u mean by "XO is steep (4th order)"? The 607c comes with a crossover that doesn't have any buttons on it, so I had it installed behind the HU. As for the volume levels, mine are never too loud... though can't say the same for some thickheads I carry on my way home from office every night So guess I'll stick to 75-80 Hz for now.

Another doubt... have heard that tuning the amp is a specialized job and should only be handled by professionals... how much of a truth is there in that statement? Are there any specifics I should keep in mind while tuning the amp so the system doesn't go kaput?

I mean the HU's LPF's slope not the slope of the internal passive XO of the 607. many HUs allow you to change the slope as well as the freq of their LPFs and HPFs.

No Navin, it doesn't allow a change of slope. I'll stick to 80Hz. Thanks!

you can increase it to 100 Hz if your speakers cant take it and starts distorting at high volumes.

lol then it is fine to keep them at 80 Hz as 50 Hz would be to much for them. also you have a sub and at what freq are you keeping it.

hi,

since all of you are in a discussion i want to ask a question. how do you get bass upfront? how do you define it? i have hertz energy 165 comps in my car with a 15" hertz energy sub. i dont at all feel the bass is coming out of the mid bass driver. when i decrease the sub level so that it merges with the front stage, there is very less bass overall. when i increase the bass, i can locate the sub. please shed some light on this.

thanks

this might be happing because of the sub out of phase of the component. try changing the sub phase from the HU and then try it again and let us know the results...
