Already discussed. It's a PR gimmick - the buses are based on an outdated engine from yesteryears that's not even BS-III compliant.

More Coronas for KSRTC

KSRTC introduced eight new buses to its existing fleet. Two of them were the first ones to join a new brand name “Ambaari” which are built by Corona with Cummins Engines and fully steel tubular monocoque body. The 44-seater bus is air-conditioned and is similar to Volvo in service.
“Ambaari gives 4.1 km per litre fuel efficiency compared to Volvo’s 3 km at the same fuel quota. Ambaari costs around Rs 40 lakh, significantly lower than that of other vehicles in the segment,” as per senior Corona official.

The interiors look cheap when compared to Volvo, but regarding comfortwise need to travel and then comment

You got to give it to Karnataka's KSRTC. They have been the best (definitely in the top) of Indian STC's. Speaking in the context of the Indian STC's, their coaches have been much better than others. And they have also maintained a very good FE, consistenly.

But nothing is perfect. The corpn was trifurcated, and today the Bangalore based KSRTC divn is the one that has been getting most attention from the state govt. The other two divisions (North East & North West) have been receiving step motherly treatment. But that's another story.

Four axle tanker

It would be interesting to know of cases where any transporter is using this for any of their hauling requirements, in India.
There are quite a few of such transporters.
Today while going out buy some everyday things from the grocery & med. stores, I spotted this tank truck.

Runaway Ramp

This might not be directly involving a commercial vehicle but related to it.
I saw this during a 2400mile roadtrip that I recently undertook around Arizona US.

Commercial Vehicle Thread-picture95.jpg

Needless to say it was after a steep long downhill stretch notorious for heating the brakes, especially of those massive US trucks.

The ramp was compacted gravel/pebbles providing cushioning for slowing down.

Saw a battered Corona Sleeper on Saturday at the KG Bus stand! Realised it runs on the standard 20" rims as opposed to the 22.5" ones that the Volvos use. You can notice that by how the wheel well is cut away!

I also got a pic of ths spec sheet. Check the attached images.
