Thats correct. Now there is an earthing issue! I am told without proper earthing the charger will not function properly ( light will be red instead of blue) and they are asking me to dig a pit 5-6 feet deep and get earthing out of that! How the hell is that possible is a housing society! Any recourse?

The VIN code for Mahindra vehicles consists of 17 digits, which is divided mainly into 3 sections. 1. First section containing 3 digits which give details of Manufacturer code. 2. Second section containing 6 digits which give details of general characteristics of the vehicle 3. Third section containing 8 digits which give details of particular vehicle identification. . Digit 1- Continent code ( M means Asia) · Digit 2- Country code (A means India) · Digit 3- Manufacturers code for M & M (1 means Mahindra) · Digit 4,5-Vehicle code for RHD,LHD · Digit 6- 4WD or 2WD (4 means 4WD and 2 means 2WD) · Digit 7,8- Engine code . Digit9- Transmission code. Digit 10- Year code (2 for 2021, 3 for 2022 and so on). Digit 11- Plant location. Digit 12- Month code (A for January, B for Feb and so on excluding I). Digit 13-17- Vehicle Serial No.

You should be able to decode the month of manufacturing from this. Which dealership have you booked the car at it and which colour? Also when are they committing delivery?

In my case they first checked the earthing and current EB setup. They found the ground also to be fine. But my charger is going to be installed after delivery, so have to see if the existing ground is fine. For society there might be a ground already at the society level, maybe you can connect there.

For me it was the same. When I asked them for the VIN number they mentioned that I will get it during the PDI in the actual vehicle

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I am from Hyderabad, i booked my vehicle through Neon Motors Chandanagar, they said the vehicle is alloted to me. They previously said that they would deliver the vehicle on 16th. Ofcousre that didn’t happen. And now they are promising me that they would deliver the vehicle this Sunday. Can I trust them? I asked the manager he said 99% it will be delivered by 23rd. Till now I haven’t got any official invoice nor the loan got disbursed. I am confused and concerned. I already sold my old car

Has anyone for whom the vehicle allotments are confirmed or expecting a delivery in day or two has enquired about the new key fob ?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

My best guess on delays and the lack of range reviews - it's not hitting 500kms. Mahindra might have estimated that 400+ in nov would be optimised through the next 6 months through software updates and better power delivery. However that has turned out to be a tough nut.

Might also be for the test drives, the power delivery to motors etc. was tuned to be higher, just to be compelling selling point.

Now they have added a default mode that tunes down the power and the car always defaults to it in a cold start.

Feedback - i just wish the name of the mode for something cooler.

Another plus point (copium intensifies) - Mahindra is uploading these snippet videos to their channel which seem like the intro / tutorial snippets to new buyers. Most likely the deliveries will start today onwards.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Mahindra has put up these bite sized snippets on their YouTube channel explaining various features and welcoming new buyers. The addition of this Default mode (I also wish it was named something cooler like the member who posted above, but that is easily fixable OTA), makes me at least satisfied that Mahindra is spending time, effort to gather feedback and act on it fast. I also get the sense that this might have been the update that the deliveries got delayed for. Till now, they have taken feedback and acted fast on following-
  1. Mandatory charger. changed their policy at speed to address issues from customers who have certain use cases of a home charger not working out for them. They might add more use cases here through feedback.
  2. Changed their warranty terms to include certain type of institutional buyers rather than just private ones
  3. Multiple journalists and enthusiasts mentioned that the torque-on-tap can be dangerous for first time users. There were incidents of accidents in TD vehicles too. So added a Default mode which is specifically for first time EV users or if you are giving your vehicle to a friend, for the power to be limited and regen to be off, to ease them from an ICE vehicle.
