@Aalok - I must say that is one fantastic photo, please do share what setting were used. At first glance i thought it was a view from the Eiffel tower. Really wonderful shot.
@aalok
Nice image!

TG.
Clicked at the Thannermukkom bund at 0730 in the morning.
@Torqueguru: Brilliant composition and rendering. But I always thought this is the non-auto image thread:D

Thanks a lot yajaman and TG. I am glad that you liked the pictures. :thumbs up
The settings were: 17mm 1/8th of a second @ f/2.8, with an ISO of 400.
Other than the settings, I had timed my visit such that I would be at the top during sunset. I was a good two to three hours early, but I waited in the lobby and went up just before sunset.
PS: Please use the 'Quote' feature! I had almost completely forgotten about this thread until this evening!
Another picture from my archives:
2nd December 2010: A day after the first snow at my host school, The University of Western Ontario, London. Little did I know that four days later, I would find myself in the middle of a massive snow storm, which was later named ‘Snowmageddon’ by UWO.
Regards,
Aalok

It made me shrink with guilt and regret my spending on a DSLR so far. Post some landscapes and People portraits, I might sell my stuff and get a decent Mobile cam :)

So far I have not reached that stage. But one thing is sure, number of clicks on a walk have gone down to 10% from the past months ! If I am not impressed through the view finder, I dont press the shutter.

Lovely image buddy ! Is there a white lining around the human figure ? I dont know what it is technically called, but does it happen by sharpening or contrast adjustment ?
The overall quality of this thread has gone up, its a pleasure to sit back and check this space everyday, being silent, with a learning mind :thumbs up

Thanks Shaju. I noticed that and it's actually a mix of reducing the image size in one go (jagged lines near the collar), back light from the sun and sharpening :).
I agree about the image quality having gone up here in this thread. Hope we see more participation and we really need some oldies to come back (shout out to Clevermax ;)).

lol:. over a period I have realized that the best camera is the one which is available within seconds all the time. The 3 MP on HTC is not the best but gives some amazing results in good light. Doubles up as my scanner/fax too.
Low light is a different story altogether.
I will post more soon just because you asked :D

Oh please, I am ready to be shrunk further ! If the after-effect is as mentioned in my previous post, I can come to Cincinnati on vacation atleast twice with that saving :D
I think it was Chase Jarvis who said: The camera that is always with you is the best cam in the world !

Thanks! Its not exactly an HDR. The edit was derived from a single raw file.

Thank you!! This is a shot from South Korea. Could not see the lighting because I went on official trip for sampling :(
With thanks and regards
@Shaju
That white line around the person, in Hellwrath's shot, is a result of light wrapping around the subject who isin his his own shadow. an Effect typically created dure to back lighting. It's not because of sharpening. Sharpening leads to another kind of outline, called halo. This is just natural "light wrap"
@Rajcs
Really? Do u see a car there? I can see only the pretty lady ;) You can blame my eyes for that!

TG.
@Torqueguru : These are awesome. Must say you have an Aye for detailclap:
