Even the Pentax (K5?) uses the same sensor. The thing is that these guys only buy the sensor technology from Sony, but the way it gets used/implemented/rendered is dependent on the individual camera makers.

They still do not have the in camera HDR option though.

D5100 has in camera HDR, not sure about D7000. HDR images are pretty good, though not as dramatic as manually created HDRs but still the cam does a good job of compressing dynamic range.

EDIT: But this D-Lighting feature works on RAW or only on JPEGS?

Works in both RAW and JPEG modes.

Ok the A55 sensor is same as A35 sensor. So they are all the same!

Yes. They all use the same sensor including Pentax K-5.
So the heart of the camera is sourced from Sony and the rest is their own marketing machine.
I guess its similar to how Maruti sources its engines from Fiat :)

Ha ha... but Canon and Nikon do a much better job at that, than Maruti :D

I know about Nikon, but traditionally, Canon has been using their own sensors in their DSLR range. They pioneered CMOS technology when Nikon and Sony were using CCD for quite some time. Agreed that the P&S range uses Sony sensors.

Thanks :) . I agree that the shot should have covered the entire car. Felt that once I came home. But when I took the shot, I was concentrating more on the non-auto entity :D. She was truly beautiful. May be my photo didn't do much justice to her beauty.

My sisters new friend :D, was checking the wide angle of my sisters P&S cam, i was impressed so say the least.

Fab!

A beautiful picture with an even more beautiful subject. Who needs a fancy camera when a P&S can do a great job?! My wife and I just adored this puppy. (Cocker Spaniel, right?)

Couple of snaps taken today morning...thoughts please...

Shot during my recent visit to Hyderabad.

Nice colours in the first one. Try not to put the horizon in the middle. 50:50 sea and sky split is a bit distracting.

Here is a shot of Laughing Kookaburra!
