The difference is on both cameras is that of the ISO (higher in d5100), flip of the screen, 2MP difference, a little color depth and Mic option.

For me the major difference is that I cant use high range of ISO and I guess that would be more useful for night photography. Which I do it rarely. (correct me if I am wrong here)

Do I see any other difference here, please let me know in layman terms.
If you have to use live view functionality to full potential, flip screen is essential. I use LV only when taking shots over head or from hip or ground level. Many times just re composing the shot from normal eye level to different angle can dramatically improve the photo

Re: The DSLR Thread

Hi - I just enquired with a shop called Dass Camera shop in TNagar in Chennai and they are quoting a price of 35100 for the 550D with the kit lens. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience in dealing with the shop and the reliability of the shop in general.

Hi Rajeev,
I did have a look at flipkart but the item is currently not in stock. I called them up and they do not have a definite time frame as to when they will get the camera. Thats why looking for alternatives.

Just called Ebby Camera world, Spencer Plaza and they are quoting around 33700 for the 550D with kit lens. This is the best deal I could find. Yet to enquire about the freebies though. (4GB card standard everywhere else I had asked). A good deal right??

Check the reviews of the Canon lens on the net. Good reviews + build quality that will last you a long time to come making it a worthwhile investment.

IMHO the Canon it is.

Cheers!

Welcome to the DSLR club. Please post your pictures in the threads of the parent forum. Also, some feedback on your cameras would be great.

Re: The DSLR Thread

Any Lee users over here ? I am looking at Foundation Kit, 0.9 and the Big Stopper. Does Foundation kit come with an adaptor ring ? My hunt for ND filters continues to the 3rd week. Hope I end up getting what I really want.

Shaju, you may want to try www.maxsaver.net for your requirements of ND/UV/PL filters.

The prices are way lower and they have good reviews in all major photography forum. Unbelievable for a HK based company. I plan to order my PL and ND from them in the next month or two.

Cheers!

Re: The DSLR Thread

I am wondering whats the best place to sell good lenses in Delhi. Most chandni chowk dealers give very low rates when buying, but when selling used lenses only shave of 10-15% of the "grey market price".

But unfortunately they dont have Lee. Somehow I am hating this screw-in type filters after using a borrowed lens and CPL for a week (Thanks to Riju).

Why don't you try selling on photography specific forum like JJMF or BPC for example. I saw that you have for sale item on Team-BHP but may be there are photo-crazy people who are not necessarily Auto crazy as well.
