Dear bhpians
I am planning to upgrade my camera and I am confused with choosing D500 or Nikon Z6. Any inputs will be helpful in this regard.

Both these cameras fall into my budget. I shoot mainly birds and wildlife. I have a 200--500 f mount lens. What should I do? What are the pros n cons?

Z6 is a full frame Z mount camera while D500 is an APS-C F mount lens. Your 200-500 lens, which is brilliant for wildlife, will need an adapter to work with Z6. Also an APS-C sensor camera will suit more for wildlife as you can use the extra focal length you get with the ~1.4 crop ratio. Also as the D500 is a big camera, the battery is also bigger and lasts longer than the mirrorless Z6, which would be handy for wildlife photography trips. Having said that, Z6 is a very good camera but in my opinion it doesn't suit your needs.

Wanted to know if any members have purchased Canon EOS RP. There are no demo cameras in Bangalore yet, to get a look and feel of the camera. Your feed back and review is much appreciated.

Dear All,
A friend has a Canon 500D which seems to have conked off.
When we took it to Canon Authorized Service Center, we were informed that 500D is no longer serviceable.
Any leads on a reputed canon service place in Bangalore would be very helpful.
Cheers,
Deepak

A question regarding chargers: Has anyone tried to modify their chargers to add a USB option ? Even if it means having a bit of wire hanging out to an external (micro-USB) female port ?

Great that you raised this question, I had a similar query as I am going on a trek where I will not have access to any charging point for a week. Thankfully, there are multiple after-market USB chargers in the market.

After some search, bought this one
https://www.flipkart.com/power-smart...mf2nz48zp5gkrg

Hopefully will serve the purpose and I will update my experience once I use this, but at least there are 3rd Party options.

Thanks, will check the link. I have come across this type of chargers, but the idea was to not add to the stuff we have. Trying to mod the existing one and extend the functionality.

Feedback request for Nikon's TC's.

Nikon has 3 AF-S Teleconvertors: the 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. How would these 3 be rated ?

I currently have 4 lenses, and using 2. Plan to give up the 24-120, and my UWA Sigma 12-24. I am also thinking if I should give the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 and get one of the other Nikon zoom's.

....
The TC will reduce the light (while magnifying), so a F4 lence will be F5.6 to F8 depending on TC. Further some lenses love TC (the image does not degrade much) while others do not.

The best way to find out is to search the net for compatibility of the TC with the lenses you want to use them with.

Is the Aperture mentioned on a lens absolute ?

NIkon has both FX and DX lenses. For a DX specific lens, is the rated aperture for FX or DX ?

@Aroy - thanks, am aware of the effect of aperture on TC. And thanks for the tip on compatibility

Mistake there - the UWA is a Tokina 12-28 F4. Have put up this and the 24-120 up for sale on JJMPF. The 24-120 is known to be good, but I want something more handy. This one is a handful.

Some quick grabs at home/backyard from my 2-month-old brand new Tamron 150-600 G2 which is now on sale I bought this one (=GAS) before my vacation expecting to get back to birding. Looks like I will still have to wait. There is no comparison to the Tammy G1 and the AF is faster than my earlier Nikon 200-500 and lighter and more comfortable to handhold too.

Both these images were shot in the dark conditions, hence high ISO and both saw some 50% crop from a 12MP Nikon Pro body

This is a very compressed photograph of Silver Breasted Broadbill. Taken in Manas National Park, Assam. ISO was going up as the weather was overcast with intermittent rain. Camera body used was Nikon D500 with Nikkor 500mm + 1.4x Teleconverter.
EXIF: ISO 4000, Shutter: 1/1000, f/5.6. Handheld, Aperture priority mode, auto ISO. hope you all like the image.
And this is my very first post. Cheers.
