Updates - my tatasky experience

On Saturday afternoon, my tatasky stopped working at 3.45 PM. , while watching a movie..

Was getting the message no signal to STP....Called their tolllfree hotline..online trouble shoting was useless..and a complaint was lodged by 4 PM. I was told it will bw rectified within 24 hours..

To my surprise I got a call from their local office by 4.10 PM, to know whether they can send their engineer within next 45 minutes..and their team did land up by 4.30 pm..they replaced a componentin the dish ( under warranty ) and it was back running by 4.45 PM.

Amazing customer support IMO, if they can maintain same standards..highly recommended.

New TataSky Scheme till 7th Jan

Well, there seems to be a scheme by TataSky here in South Delhi.

Set-top Box : Rs. 2800/-
First Installation : Rs. 1000/-
Further Installations : Rs. 500/- per TV

This includes FREE 6 months subscribtion for all connections before 7th January.

So for about Rs. 4800/- I can get 3 TataSky Connections and 6 months of Free Subscribtion's.

Is this a good deal?

Manveeteh ? How did u come at the figure of Rs 4800 for 3 connections?

3 TVs

3X STB = 2800 X 3 = 8400

First time installation (including the warranty for STB + remote + dish) = 1000

Second and Third installation (including the warranty for STB + remote) = 500 X 2 = 1000

TOTAL = Rs 10400 for 3 STBs and 6 months free on all.

I'd suggest get TATASKY, the quality is awesome. ANd so is the A$$.

Yes, your calculation is absolutely right.

By the time I realised my mistake, I was in a hurry to leave so couldn't correct it.

Hmm checked with the tatasky helpline and came to know the following for bangalore city.initial hardware settop box charges: Rs 2990Installation charges+ 1 year warranty: Rs 500( after 500 Rs discount)subscription fee: rs 300 per monthFor an additional connection for the same home would cost Rs 3000( hardware)+ Rs 500 ( instllation) + 100 Rs monthly rental. The new connection installation would take a maximum of 4 to 5 working days they say.The offer of 6 months free subscription going on is for delhi, kolkatta and Hyderabad according to the tata helpline assiciate and the reason they say is because of CAS ( conditional access system) being implemented there..donno what exactlt it means :-)Anybody having any other information to share..pls do.

I finally unplugged the STB from the power socket and re -plugged it and it was fine afte that... same thign happens with all 3 STB installed in my house.... has anyone had similar problems??

The bottom line is..that the STB does have a few bugs whch needs to be sorted out ...

Can anyone tell me about the post one year scenario?? According to some reports im getting the Dish TV people are demanding exhorbiitant charges on a per channel basis??? is that true? Accordingly, all freebies which either Dish or tatasky offer now look good now but will be a pinch to the pocket after a year.....

sk456. are you using dish or tata ?

on the contrary things will look even brighter this year. i heard trai has proposed to do away with the boquet systems & let customer choose the channels at a minimum price per channel
