It may be for the reinstallation of firmware manually via a interface.I don't think it has to do with satellite internet etc.

15 days on and no news of these guys.

S/N Ratio and Attenuation is still the same

Called up the technician and he told me that it is BSNL's issue. I say "yes, but you are responsible to fix it. Not my fault. You are sitting with my money (cheque cleared on 26-Oct-2009)."

He asked me to write an email to Help@MyWay.in and complain. Just did. Wrote a strong one.

Will keep updating!

In the bargain missed the TS+ offer too!

Yeah.. this thread has become quiet.

Hathway is painful these days. No ESPN, Star sports. I'm starved of sports now.

So any idea what's the best deal these days? Tata or Airtel?

Videocon D2H

Anyone using Videocon D2H? The packages seem pretty VFM to me. This is atleast 20% cheaper compared to others.

DTH feedback?

This thread is not very popular?

I am thinking of ditching my cablewallah’s (Hathway) set-top box and going to DTH providers:

Here my preference list (in order of preference)
1. Good Video Quality
a. we don’t have HD yet - but DVD quality video
b. preferably native 16:9 for applicable channels, my cable guys set top box just elongates when I choose widescreen
2. Quality of service
a. Uninterrupted
b. ease of payment –preferably online?
c. customer service etc
3. Comparative Cost of packages.
4. Set-top box’s compatibility with my universal remote
a. my cable guy’s Humax set top box doesn’t work on my UR

I am not looking at additional features like a Tivo/Recording etc.

Right now thinking between Tata Sky & Sun Direct. I heard very bad remarks about Sun's customer Service. But Sun's Samsung box comes with a component output.

Skywalker - Airtel is very good. I have heard bad feedback about Tata sky. Not sure about Sun Direct.

Can anyone please tell me which DTH gives all these channels?
  1. Tamizhan TV
  2. WIN TV
  3. Imayam TV
  4. Blessing TV
  5. Angel TV
  6. God TV
  7. Daystar

Go ahead with TATA without any second thoughts. I used BIG tv for abt 7 months and go rid of it. Even though we ahd paid up front for 1 yr, the service support was horrible. Eventually once the reception decided to give up in middle of the match and i was given a 3 hr deadline to get rid of it and get TATA sky.

It all was managed in a span of 2 hrs. Called Big tv, Asked them to take away their dish and STB and called in Tata Sky and all was taken care of. Ofcourse pulled in a few strings and got it doen in priority

Tata after sales support so far has been of very good help to me. I am using the annual package which gives me the benefit of viewing all channels and also if any new ones added, i dont need to pay extra, they are just added to my package.

I'm in the same boat, only difference is that my set-top-box is from SCV. Was seriously considering Tata-Sky-Plus but...

... saw an ad in yesterday's HINDU that Sun-DTH-HD has added Discovery-HD & NatGeo-HD to its channel bouquet ! So seriously looking at DTH-HD now.

I'm assuming the content from both these channels would be stunning - can anybody provide any feedback regarding these 2 HD channels ?

Me too saw the ad in hindu's Bangalore edition, they also mentioned colors and IPL on setmax in HD. It is not clear what HD it is- 720P, 1080i or 1080p- anyone knows?

even at the lowest, 720P - it will be a league apart. Btw, is Sun DTH-HD different from the regular Sun DTH?

Yes it is different, in the sense you have to get a different HD capable STB (which is costlier, of course, about 10k inclusive of 1 year subscription/installation etc. if I remember correctly).

It must be 720P.

1080p is not used for broadcasting anywhere in the world, not even in the US.

The difference between 1080p and 720p is noticeable only when you sit close to (less than 6.5 feet ) a 50" plasma TV.

^ I had a quick look at their website but couldnt find information about the HD channels or the DTH HD subscription!

I dont watch south channels, but mostly hindi / english channels. I always had an impression that SUN is a proper South DTH giving all south indian channels. But looks like they have other choices as well, but I guess I may be spending more on packages if I go with SUN since I will have to buy quite a few hindi / english / news / movie channels.
