I don't want a membership since I'm not very frequent in my gaming and only play once a week, if at all.
Sadly you do need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play any game online. There are rumors going around that the Gold membership might be scrapped in a few months and online will be free to play. Until then you will need a subscription to play any game online from your Xbox.

Thanks. That's a bummer specially since you don't need a membership to play Warzone on PS4.
Call of Duty Mobile it is then... using my Xbox controller

I think they've hit it out of the park. Just finished watching Dave Lee's video on it. However, I'm waiting eagerly to see how Sony plays it up with PS5. If the digital version comes in at $349, Microsoft will lose the battle. My 90% of PS4 gameplay time was dedicated for FIFA 15 till 20, and Sony clearly rules when it comes to that one specific game.

Saw the showcase late night. Thoroughly enjoyed. The Hogwarts game looks excellent and there was a tease of GOW in 2021. Also the PS plus bundle at the launch is great for people who haven't played most of those 10 titles. Expect the disk version at INR 49-50k and digital at 40k.

Any idea when the pre-orders will begin? My PS4 controllers are dead and all e-tailers are out of original stock. Weekends have become absolutely boring.

No confirmations by Sony India about India pricing and availability.

I will suggest getting a new controller in the meantime. You can get it from Sony official retail site - https://shopatsc.com/search?q=ps4%20dualshock

I bought mine from them a couple of months back.

Re: XBox, Playstation and other gaming consoles

I am finally thinking to get a Xbox and really confused if I should get the Series X or S.

This would be my first ever console and will be used by me and my 7 year old son.

Considering the prove difference,
  1. Is the 512 GB SSD a bit too less in S?
  2. Will digital only turn out to be more expensive in the long run?
  3. Is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate worth it? It's slated to get EA Pass in November as well.

I'll take a poke at this:
Go for Series X. It is faster, better and future proof (add a lot of other positive adjectives).
1. Yes. I have a 512GB. It has only 70GB free now. Remember games like CoD: Warzone are over 100GB each.
2. Nope. Bandwidths are fast and cheap enough and we hardly play any Blurays anymore
3. If you are an extensive gamer, yes. Else go for Xbox Live for online gaming

You can use an external USB 3.0 hard drive to store games and transfer them onto the SSD when you intend to play them, so you can manage with the 512GB. But if the wallet allows, the Series X is a much better console to get. Stocks of the Series X are very limited compared to the Series S though.

Digital Only is fully manageable. Haven't bought a game disk in 6 years now. With internet bandwidth not being a constraint, it is no more a problem. Xbox game disks are very hard to come by in India anyway.

If you are interested in trying out many different genres of games, Game Pass Ultimate is well worth it. The game library keeps expanding and with the introduction of XCloud into Game Pass Ultimate, you can play those games from an Android phone as well. If however, you only are interested in a select few games, it doesn't make much sense to invest in Game Pass.

Re: PC & Console games - Discussion Thread

With PS5 launch soon is it wise to buy a PS4 now ? I am mostly into racing, fighting and war games. Requesting gurus to advise.

Just like how people were picking up PS3 until 3 years back when all big game titles were supporting it. Guess PS4 will get great support for a couple of years. But the genes you're into, it makes sense that you pick up the new PS5.
