We have the attached one and it looks the same as in the amazon listing. Moreover, SETracker is the app that is to be installed to make the watch work.
The audio is loud and clear and audible. Battery is used for 2~3 hours daily, when the kid is on the playground and switched off once she returns. It lasts for 4~5 days with such low usage. There is no facility for sms, only calling to and fro. I suppose it uses GPRS( 2G) for tracking facility and/or remote start/shutdown.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Anybody here using a reliable & premium non Apple smartwatch with an iPhone? I am using an Honor magicwatch for the last 1.5 years with my iPhone XR, but off late it has stopped syncing with the app. Most functions are working, but I am unable to analyze any data, as the app does not sync with the device any more.

Now, I am looking to replace the Honor magic watch with a decent, premium smartwatch, but the Apple watch is not suiting me, 1. rectangular shape, 2. terrible battery, 3. unjustified cost

Any ideas from fellow BHP-ians?

I am using a Garmin Fenix 5 with iPhone 11 and it works great. It is more of a fitness tracker which also works as a smart watch.

I have a 945 Forerunner. Works great on iOS. In fact I had to switch from Android mid way when my Pixel2 broke down and there are no "good" "small" android phones.

The switch also was seamless! Imagine many years of analytics seamlessly move to iOS.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

I didn't know this thread existed. After a lot of research I have shortlisted Samsung galaxy watch 3 (41 mm) and Garmin Venu sq. Confused which one to buy. The reviews seems to be telling that galaxy watch 3 is a smartwatch with some fitness tracking features and Venu sq is a fitness tracking device with some smartwatch features. Post discount and cash back, watch 3 is slightly cheaper. I am actually more keen on the fitness tracking features. Two questions.

1. Is that a fair assumption?. If yes, how bad is galaxy watch 3 is in terms of fitness related features.
2. I feel the rectangular screen is better from a user experience point of view. Which is a better form factor from a usability point of view? ( Rectangle vs Circle)

I too am on a lookout for a Smart Watch which has some good fitness tracking features. I had almost made up my mind to get amazfit gtr 3 pro smart watch but then dropped the plans of buying it after I came across this youtube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChN...h4IRSevon1X93g

If you look out for the amazfit smart watches review you will see that they are way off from what the readings of scientific instruments are.

I know that smart watches cannot be compared to the scientific trackers and instruments but the tracking of smart watches should be somewhat close to the scientific instruments or atleast consistent

So now I have somewhat made my mind to get Samsung Galaxy 4 Bluetooth version.

I am using the Garmin Vivoactive 4 with an iPhone 13. But, this is a fitness watch and not a smart watch. I am happy with this combo.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Hi all,
I have recently gotten an iPhone 13 and prior to using this I was using a OnePlus 7T with a Samsung gear s3 frontier. The gear s3 frontier has held up beautifully until now and it's form factor is one of my favorites. Naturally I am not able to extract the full benefits of it now considering the limited iOS functionality and being ~4 years old the battery life has also taken a hit (even though I Still get 2 days comfortably while being always connected to the phone)

Since I have used a Samsung smartwatch, I would like to know what is the latest watch in their lineup which supports iOS? I really liked the Galaxy Watch 4 classic but it doesn't support iOS unfortunately.

Are there any classic (round faced) alternatives to the Apple Watch that are worth considering? I am looking for something that looks and feels premium and can be used with both casual and formal wear.

Can it be charged by a normal USB mobile phone charging cable? Or it needs a customized cable?

The Versa 3 comes with its own proprietary magnetic charger. The chargers plugs into an USB A port and has a magnetic holder for the Versa 3 device at the charging end.

No, this can not be charged by a normal mobile phone charging cable. You need this specific charger for Versa 3.

I would suggest the Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S as a good option for the round-faced watch. However, this has a transflective display and not an AMOLED one. So while the numbers are clearly visible even in clear sunlight, the face does not feel rich

I lost my Vivoactive 4S in the only flight I took in the last couple of years after Covid. I think I have lost my bearings when it comes to using airports/flights. At one point in time, I was more or less living out of a suitcase and hopping from airport to airport. I do like this however

So after losing my Vivo, I chanced upon the Huawei GT2 Pro at a sweet deal. I read multiple reviews and realized that the watch did have a very good fitness capability. The only challenge with it was that customization cannot happen on an iOS device. The development of the health app on iOS has stalled thanks to the US and its challenges with Huawei. But in terms of look and feel it does feel premium. I am also given to understand that the glass is a sapphire crystal that is not offered by others. I have been using it for the last couple of months and it does not feel any lesser compared to the Vivo. Of course, Vivo has a ton of statistics and if you are one of those folks who need them, then this is not for you. But for regular fitness this is good. Oh, and did I mention that they said 14 days worth of battery. It does prove itself although you would not want to have an always-on display watch face + continuous heart rate, SPO2 tracking

Some things to keep in mind

1. You can answer only calls on your watch. No other interactions such as messages, WhatsApp, social media etc is allowed
2. The app on iOS is clunky. With an iOS you cannot add music to your watch. For this you need an android phone.
3. The speakers on watch is brilliant. Loud for sure
4. Cannot customize alarm notifications on watch
5. Cannot customize what is displayed on the exercise screens of the watch unlike Garmin. However most of the info is available
6. No Spotify support on iOS
7. GPS tether is very good and I can latch on to GPS even in some enclosed spaces
8. Display brightness and color is good

Last thoughts - If you use your watch as a smart watch, this is not it. If you use your watch for deep analytics of fitness data this is not it. If you want a watch that can act as a fitness tracker + provide basic smartwatch capabilities go for it.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Fitbit issued recall for their Ionic Model Fitness Watch. Recall is applicable in India as well.

News: https://help.fitbit.com/en_US/ionic.htm

Details:
Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you own a Fitbit Ionic, please stop using your device.

For information on how to receive a refund, visit our refund center. You can also receive access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, for a limited time.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

My Garmin Vivoactive 4 is showing a blue colored triangle on the screen. Neither of the buttons are able to start it up or shut it down. Plugging in to its charge cable too yielded nothing.

Any help?

It happens mostly when the device is powering on or updating firmware. Its most probably updating the firmware.Make sure the phone is near and paired so that it completes the process.

Sucks!

I ran wearing it, came back home, since it wasn’t working, left it like that & came out for some work. Phone was with me during that time. I switch off the device every night. Since I didn’t go for run on Monday as well as Sunday, I hadn’t switched it on. Battery level was at 53% when I had switched it off. I hope it recovers on its own. And that I don’t have to ship it somewhere:-|.

EDIT: It powered on and its working now .
