Any reviews on this one?
Hey, that is a 21 inch model! No wonder it costs so little!

I thought we're talking bigger ones here.

The LCD TV prices have gone down to a good extent. I bought a 40" Samsung 5 Series (40A550P1) for Rs.57000 on Jan 1st week . I am very satisfied with the performance. I am using it both as a TV and also as a PC Monitor.

Err... how many kilometres away from it do you need to sit when using it as a PC monitor?!

Could you please tell what the claimed contrast ratio is for this model?

Hey guyz,

is it worth to buy a LCD TV from out of country?

Thinking on the maintanence, parts and service wise....

Please let me know since a relative is coming from Dubai on Saturday and he wants to bring it from there!

Which one in 26' and 32' would you guyz recommend apart from Sony?

Or is it wise to stay with a 29' CRT flat TV?

Thanks..

Got a new Samsung series 4 LCD TV 22A450 for my granny for Rs.12.5K after exchange. After looking around a few shops e-zone was offering the best price. Rs.15K for the TV and Rs.2.5K exchange for a 3 year old 21" videocon TV.

The TV is really nice for the price. The resolution is a bit of a surprise at 1680X1050.

Hi Rudrah,

I dont think it would make much sense to get the LCD from outside India.

I have two Samsung LCDs at my home, 40" ( 2 years old ) and 32" ( 1 week old ), the one which is 2 years old is doing just fine, when you look at it, it still looks like brand new one, the body panel shines is the same as it was 2 years back.

So i am pretty happy with Samsung.

I saw that Panasonic LCDs are available in market with huge discounts, 26k for a 32", is available in Delhi.

Hope this would help.

Cheaper price abroad but carrying them to India may be a huge pain (big box).
One can live with a 29" CRT flat TV as one can also live with a desert cooler.

Thanks Bubby and Vasudeva for your replies!

Yeah I found Panasonic, Sharp in 28k for 32' here. Don't know if the quality of Panasonic, Sharp, Philips or Sony are different outside than the ones available here.

On the other hand I'm quite tempted for a 29' HD CRT especially by Phillips. Somewhere i read, now HD CRTs are phased out and nowhere to find in India. Is this true?

I'll check the same in my area. Most I find is Samsung, LG and Sonys CRTs which I dont prefer!

I compared a sharp lcd next to a samsung and the difference in image quality was substantial. The samsung was far superior to the sharp tv. There was a difference of approx. 6-7000 bucks between the two but the superior quality of samsung justified the higher cost.

If you carefully notice, Samsung displays be it a CRT, monitor or any other are always too sharp as compared to other manufacturers. Check aplhabets and object curves and borders..also the brightness level would be more than others! I dont find the colors natural. My view!

Philips, Sharp and Panasonic were better in terms of display!

The new ones ( available from Diwali 2008) have 40000:1 ratios. The earlier ones had 30000:1 contrast ratio.

Is this is the native or dynamic contrast ratio. From my limited knowledge, dynamic is more like the PMPO, while native is perhaps like RMS.
