Don't worry. If you wait a while the prices will be coming down! The 'meltdown' hasn't hit bottom yet!

Hi guys,

my 3 yr old LCD TV is missing picture and/or becomes non responsive after shutting down and restarting overnight. some trial and error works somehow. now that the prices have come down I will probably buy a better one but just wondering if anybody knows any quick fix. I want to wait till July since I may have a significant move coming up, and prefer buying it locally after I move. in fact I am also eyeing DLP projectors but wifey still prefers TVs.

a trip to the mech will cost more than the TV's value now . The brand is NIKO.

at 4:3 aspect ratio, 22" means only 19.3"

Bought a 22" LG (model:22LG30R) for Rs.16,400/-

Found that at 4:3 aspect ratio, 22" means only 19.3" of usable size for 'normal' TV programs .

Yesterday was returning from the hospital after the planned immunization schedule for my lil kid when just out of chance I visited Vijay Sales Hadapsar for checking out LCD & plasma TVs.

In an hours time after going through dvd & DTH sessions for quite a few lcds (bravia v series, samsung 4-5 series, lg 53 and jazz) and plasma (lg & panasonic) we decided to opt for the Panasonic Viera TH-42PV8D. I really liked what i saw.

Affordable plasma, great picture quality, lots of connection options - i have a psp, ps2, pc hooked up and there are still 2hdmi, 1 composite connection free. Simply awesome.

And all at a steal of 43500 converted to a 0% interest 6 monthly EMI (only for citi & HDFC credit card customers).

thanks man..........i have always been a panny fan to the core. My first career internship money went into a panasonic handycam (20k and fully worth it) nearly 4 years back and it was fully worth it. Then came the digicam (lumix series) - 250USD from best buy 3 years back. Again worth it. Simply no problems whatsoever.

And now the plasma - its so smooth - colours very natural, sound is average but rich. And best part is although being a plasma the screen does not have a glossy finish rather a matte one - a boon for late night movies and extended hours.

And sports look good too with a very small response time as well.

A well detailed review is on the cards in a weeks time - the only -ve point if any in this tv is that the menu does nto have too many features and is very simplistic. Good for an average user but IMHO i would have liked a lot more of software features and a PIP too.

Well for a budget this rocks though - and packs a punch.

How much does PV80 and PV8 costs in Devi now? I think showrooms were selling at 50 and 47k respectively.
