haha i went down the same path too
bought an xbox360 for gaming and then decided to upgrade from my just 1yr old 29" to a new sony 42", then realized wanted some good sound while I game and ended up buying the onkyo 7.1 thx system. Then realised needed to play when there are power cuts and so got a top of the line 1kva apc ups. And to top it all finally replaced the xbox360 (which started it all) to a PS3

Enjoy your stuff dude!!

Hi to everyone! New here! We bought a 32" V series for 49,000 today. I had a hard time searching for reviews. Theres mouthshut but not very helpful.Anyway got some very good info from this site, though it was too late . But enjoyed it nonethless because no one ever reviews/discusses these models.

I bought a Whats-HiFi but they didnt review the Bravia.
Father was insistent on the Bravia because we had a Trinitron from 1987! I was insistent on giving the Samsung Bordeaux Art a try. Couldnt convince him otherwise. So decided on the V.

The dealer was willing to sell it for 43000 with bill! Finally settled for one with bill.

I have got my new Hitachi 37" LCD TV last week. So far it looks great with regular cable channels and DVDs. I am yet to checkout any real HD stuff. Will keep posted about the experience.

Blue_V, firstly, congrats on the V Series LCD. Secondly, i am suprised to know that with bill and without bill deals are prevalent even for LCD's?

Btw, how much did the dealer quote for V 32" without a bill?

Without Bill is same as gray market, isn;t it? There would be no warranty on it
In this case from a dealer :O

Hitachi

Yesterday night I visited the Hitachi showroom and the PQ of 37'' LCD (37LD900TA) is very good compared to Sony & Samsung model & of course the price is also well ahead (75K). I could not check out the PQ of 32'' (32LD9000TA) but the price is very good 45K, given that it's a same model I believe the PQ should be very good.

For a moment I could not belive that the PQ of LCD (tsk connection) is very close to plasma model next to it.

After visiting the show room & looked at their 42'' plasma (42PD9800TA), now I am inclined towards Hitachi plasma (1024*1080 res, 10,000:1 cont) with 99.9k price tag. Looks like VFM at this price. Both standard & HD pictures looked amazing in this model. Let me know if any of you experienced this model.

Sure will do.

Without bill is without warranty. I better not take chances with my father .. (never buy a product without warranty )

"What HiFi" seems to be very biased towards certain brands. The november issue is an "Onkyo special" for audio with all onkyo systems given 5 stars and Panasonic rated highly for TVs. Samsung as usual gets good marks in both audio and video sectors. It doesnt really help us in choosing any particular product and pricing details are mostly incorrect.

Are you sure about the 32" price? 30k difference between 37" & 32" in the same model line seems a little high. I'd go for a Hitachi if costs 45k!

37LD9000TA - MRP 89,900 - Offer Price - 74,900

I did see that Panasonic gets good ratings. But then the Onkyo models are new! They pretty much give Denon better ratings but they gave 3 stars for they new budget amp+cd player and noted that it was "disappointing".

I do not think they are too biased. Like in the AV receiver section they give 5 stars to Yam and 5 to Denon but maybe prefer Denon and rate it as the best product!

Only disappointment is they have certain brands they test always, mostly british and eurpeoan (speakers).

They are very Europe oriented in their product selection -- See if you can find a volume that doesnt mention Wharfedale . Their listed prices are estimates based on UK rates, so I am not sure if someone can get any of those items in India at those prices. But in general, their regular top pick sections and combination recos are quite good.

And all magazines should learn product photography from them. A ROTEL or Creek is drool material anyways, but when it appears in What Hi-Fi, their associated ratings of sell-your-kidney-for seems pretty reasonable.
