It would still be worth it.
There's a lot going for passive 3D which the Sony has, as also LG.
Samsung has active 3D. This article will help: http://www.displaymate.com/3D_TV_ShootOut_1.htm

Also, the refresh rate for the Sony seems to be double that of the Samsung panel.

Is this good enough? or Can someone suggest me a better TV than this in the same price range?
Also, I am planning to buy it from grey market, any available in Bangalore?
I just bought a Samsung 40F6400 from the grey market last week for 48,500.
With Wall mount and onsite installation it was around 50K.
It came with 4 Active 3D glasses which work my Panasonic P42UT50d. It has 2.4 / 5 Ghz wifi built in. The Full HD 1080P movies stream from my PC to the TV wirelessly without any problems.

On the whole it is a good TV but the picture quality does not match up with the realistic colors of my Panasonic Plasma.

I would have bought another Panasoic Plasma had it been available from Grey Market for a price less than 50K.

I was looking for the same model couple of weeks back for my sister. Store prices were 63k then. On ebay it was listed for 43k by a seller from Bangalore. Since it was with dealer warranty, we did not go ahead with buying. Also, a 20K difference made us drop the idea for now.

Now, the same guy (I presume, going by his posting with phone number & mentioning bangalore/chennai) is selling for 45k. Earlier, if I remember, it was with 4 3D glasses. Now, he says 2 3D glasses. May be you should haggle a bit & bring down the price/increase the # of 3D glasses.

BTW, how reliable is this dealer warranty? 20k difference is a lot of money which we can save.

PS: I am in noway associated with this ebay seller.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Bought two Samsung 5 series Smart TVs (40" and 32") in the last fortnight. Seems that Sony uses Sharp LEDs up to 32"and Samsung thereafter. My old 32" LCD (not full HD) had failed a few days earlier.

I don't know which LEDs Sony uses, and I don't really think it matters; it is the LCD panel that is more important.
As for sizes larger than 32", I hear that Sony is currently using panels from LG. Hence the change in size from 40 to 42" and also the passive 3D.

I was looking into the same listing. Had called him on Sunday but he did not respond.
Called him now again and he says the price is higher now because dollar prices are high now Asked him how does it matter, he anyways buys it from Malaysia. He did nto budge and stuck to the actual cost.
He has a warehouse in Bangalore, no store.
About Warranty, he said that everything except damage due to voltage fluctuation and physical damage is covered. He has a tie-up with Samsung service centre. They come and service it if required.

I called another guy from ebay. He has 2 listings of the same TV on ebay.
1. With dealer warranty - Have to send him the TV incase any issues occour.
2. Serve-pro warranty - A third party company who attend the product onsite.

Long term reliability, not sure. Same happened with me, when I was about to buy canvas, but chose one v instead.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hi Guys,

I have purchased an LG 42LA6200.

This TV has all the features be it 3D,Smart,Widi,Wifi.. etc etc.

Reason I chose this: IPS panel gives true-colours (read true). At the price the TV is offered, outnumbers any other TV in the same range.
Samsung and Sony have come to a policy of not giving even a single rupee discount (Except festive seasons).
All my home appliances are LG(WM, Fridge, CRT TV) and Samsung(Phone+Monitor) and Sony (Phone). I have never faced any issues with LG. Regarding Samsung and Sony, I had to visit service centers and sometimes scrap the product. Sold a 1 year old SOny Experia (Rs. 10K) for Rs 800
So as per my experience, LG is more reliable.

TV Pros - Very good 3D quality (Passive 3D). 2D-3D conversion best in class.
True colours.
Good refresh rate.
Good and useful smart features.
You can negotiate on the price.
Smart remote very very handy.
Table mount and wall mount are adjustable.

Not so good sound quality, but who cares. You got to connect an HT with all Flat panels.

Samsung f6400 is a good option. You can go for f6800 series if ready to spend little bit extra... That's even better with local dimming. Check out Sony w800 series as well. Another very good TV in similar price range. If you have the budget and want best picture quality then go for Sony w900.

Bumping it up with an option. Is this a good buy? http://www.homeshop18.com/lg-32-hd-l...d:3240/?pos=22
