re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

My 8 year old Sony 24" Flat screen CRT gave up and post checking out the range of Plasma's and LED's at Chroma, Snehaanjali, Kohinoor (Kandivali West) and Vijay Sales (Borivali West) we finally bought the Toshiba PU200 40" LED television from Vijay Sales. The product is LED backlit and comes with 3 years comprehensive manufacturer warranty on ALL parts (or that what they said). Also, Vijay sales mentioned that we can call them instead of Toshiba for service and they would be more than happy to help for any issues.

All in all i find this product a true VFM as post the discount and exchange we managed to get it at INR 35500/-

The product will be delivered today evening and will post the PQ & SQ experience post a month of usage.

Saw this in the paper today. Flat panel TVs no more duty-free baggage, even those under INR 35k

But won't we'll loose the warranty too?

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hi All,

Please help me in deciding which Plasma Tv to go for;

Samsung F5500 (51 inch plasma Full HD) costing 76,500 with 2 years warranty
Panasonic TH-P50X50D (50 inch plasma HD) costing 58,000 with 3 years of warranty

I want to know which is better for viewing purpose and in terms of quality/practicality.

Awaiting response as my old 30 inch samsung vision plus CRT Tv gone kaput and need to purchase new at the earliest.

You are comparing a Full HD with standard HD with huge price difference. Thats not an apple to apple comparison. From Panasonic you should pick P50UT50. Isn't it available anymore? In plasmas Panasonic is usually rated best in terms of PQ.

i also gave a thought on this and decided to go for full HD. Now between these two models P50UT50 and samsung F5500 - you recommend me the Panasonic. Right? What about the features comparison between these two models. Any inputs?

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Kindly suggest as to which model series I should go for in Panasonic plasma TV series. UT or ST series and 30D (2011model) or 50D(2012 model).
Really confused between these series.
I heard that 60 series is also launched. Is it available in India?

Yes, 60 series too is available in India but availability is poor. Check with your local dealer. I would suggest to go for 50 or 60 series as it will have newer technology. Our member S_U_N owns one 50ST60. You may contact him for feedback.

Thanks for suggestion. I asked my dealer in Jaipur 60 series is very scarce right now and steeply priced.
I finalised the Panasonic TH-P42UT50D for the best price 56,000.
Will go in evening to pick it up.

My friend is coming from Dubai next month, is it worth buying led tv from Dubai. I am worrying Govt implementing additional 35% tax on the tv from 26th Aug onwards.
