It really is a steal deal for a minor trade off of the AOD, S-6 chip, etc. It nearly 80-85% close to the Series 6.

Went ahead and got the series 6 from Amazon. This is my first time with any kind of a smartwatch. Still figuring out the device.

Great! Good jump there in going for the top spec Series 6.

I am still looking at the SE, going through a lot of reviews online.
S-6 will definitely be a strech for me. Hence, not even looking in that direction.

Nonetheless, do share your experience with your watch.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Anyone here has a lead on a nice Apple Watch case. I banged my Series 6 a couple of times and then decided to get an ugly full-body case. But as you can see in the photo here there is a small issue with the case. It sticks to the glass and causes these distortions which take away a lot of the niceties of the screen. Is there a way I can get rid of it?

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Does anyone have any suggestion for my problem? I have series 3 42mm on watchos7 latest iteration and every time watch hits 80% while draining, it will shut off.
The only way to restart watch is put on charger wherein I see the red glow with charging wire symbol and then it turn green and after that apple logo comes watch starts and is now at 80% - 81%.

I visited apple premium reseller in Mumbai and they told they will restore and reset and try to check which I didn't want them to as it was waste of time. They told me since nothing can be fixed as it may be hardware issue, they told that only option is replacement for which they quoted 15,500 Rupees. For now I have declined and will think.

I strongly feel that it is not hardware issue because the progression of issue is that after updating to WatchOS 7 GM, battery drain was terrible, as in every 10-12 hours battery would hit 10%. Then this new issue started cropped up wherein at 70% odd watch would shut off and now at 80% that is happening. Basically watch is not really usable in its current form and I am not keep to spend 15.5K to get another series 3.

I had bought this watch back in 2017 so it is 3.5 years old around but in watchOS 6, the battery life was stellar and also battery health is 92% currently.

Guys, what the procedure to get Cellular activated on the Airtel. I tried doing it via the watch app but cannot get through. Do we need to have an e-sim in the phone as a condition?

Even I need to know this and further, do we get the same number on the watch or it is a new number?
I am upgrading my wife's series 0 watch to either 6 ( if I find someone traveling from US) or SE if I have to purchase locally. Left out e-sim version ( on series 6) as she doesn't find utility for the same, but if above question is answered, maybe we will look at the cellular watch with a different angle. Her usage is mostly for workouts which happen indoor with the phone around.

It happened automatically for me (I am on Airtel) when I was setting up my SE a couple of weeks back. It just asked for permission on the phone to set it up and then everything happened automatically. Got 2 SMS from Airtel- one that it is being set up and then another after 2 hours that it is done. Honestly, was super surprised at how convenient and easy it was. I was under the impression that I would need to visit a store of speak to customer care.

It is an e-sim for the same number.

I am using the below one:

https://www.amazon.in/OJOS-Compatibl...s%2C284&sr=8-8

Barring a few times that there was slight difficulty in swiping right, it has been perfect. If you do not want a built in screen protector, they have simple hard cases too.

Thanks, I spoke to customer service guy, it appears, my watch was being updated when I tried to pair cellular. So, the process could not go through. They have reset at backend and asked me to try after 12 hours and it should happen.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Please note the US cellular version doesn't work in India. I will still recommend going with the cellular version as it fundamentally unhinges you from the phone. I don't carry my phone anymore on short trips around the home or during my walk in our community. You can stream music, make phone calls, and answer all your texts without a phone.

Apparently I was too lenient with the sizing. The Braided Loop arrived today after a long wait, and I found it way too loose for my wrist. Promptly called Apple Support and was told that it can be exchanged for a smaller size. So, I did the sizing exercise again, and decided to go two sizes smaller. I asked the rep what if the new one is too small, she said just exchange it again.

Unfortunately, I need to wait it out another 6-8 weeks before I get the replacement one, and they won't start working on it until they receive this one back, which should take almost an additional week.

Just posting this as a cautionary warning for others.

Cheers

What makes you say this? I got my watch last week from Canada and it works absolutely fine with Airtel.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

I have Apple Watch 5, when I was buying it in the Apple Store in the US the sales rep in the store clearly told me that it will not work in India.

Also, please take a look at this page from Apple's site. It clearly calls out various models, the bands it supports and the carriers the model will support. https://www.apple.com/watch/cellular/#table-series-6

I guess this also means that if someone is buying Apple Watch from Dubai, especially from non official sources, where they usually have imports from US / UK, there is a chance it won't (properly) in India.
