Re: The Home Appliance thread

All 3 things are required- salt, rinse aid and detergent. But do not waste money on Finish brand. For salt buy the Sea salt from market, it costs mebbe Rs 20/kg. For the other two, use Fortune brand (or something cheaper? if available let me know), the results are same. Always run the utensils under water immediately after using before loading into dishwasher.

Thanks folks for all the tips. I came across this brand called Fortune on amazon which seems more economical and rated at 4 stars as well. What is your take on this? Is it worth trying?

Tried once but it was nothing like Finish. No point in saving a few bucks when you bought the expensive German machine

Some additional questions:
  1. I live in Jayanagar and as of now we get soft water - in this scenario is the Salt needed?
  2. Second, what is the best place in Bangalore to buy Rinse Aid and Detergent or is better to buy it online?
  3. Did you go for the Extended Warranty? I believe Bosch offers Extended Warranty of Additional two years for Rs.4499/- This can be purchased before 150 days elapse from date of purchase.
Congratulations! Good choice. How much was the final price?

1. Salt is not only for softening but also for dislodging stubborn stains. So you do need it. Besides the machine has the indication for low salt and low rinse aid. If the indication for either of them lights up the machine will not start. So you have to top it up.

2. I prefer Amazon. I suggest you stick to 'Finnish' brand for salt, rinse aid and detergent. They are better than any other brands available in the market.

3. Take an extended warranty!

Thanks for the tips! I cannot disclose the price paid at Devi International publicly - as we know the Dealer for many years he gave an unmentionable price for it

However, at the Bosch Showroom they had quoted a best price of 43K for the 3E model which has an MRP of 48.5K. For the 1E model, they were willing to sell at 42K. Definitely any of the 3rd party stores selling this would sell it for lower than that with some negotiations. I had also checked on Paytm Mall and there had the 1E model for 39.6K I think. The model was not available on Amazon.in when I checked.

The Dishwasher was delivered yesterday and we are now waiting for the installation and demo which should happen today.

1. Salt is only for softening. If your hardness is low or your water is already treated you don't need it.

Machine works fine with "refill salt" or "refill rinse aid indicator" glowing. If the refill rinse aid is glowing the cycle time increases by 5 minutes (I think to aid in drying dishes) in my Bosch.

2. Use Fortune brand dishwasher supplies from Amazon. I'm using them from from last one year after the using Finish once. Fortune cleans similar, costs half and smells better compared to Finish.

Ok. The Demo person said salt is for softening plus to aid in cleaning stubborn dirt. Which model is yours? Because ours does not start the operation with the low rise aid or low salt.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding Fortune detergents. I shall give them a try once the existing stock on Finnish gets over.

Don't run without salt if your water isn't soft enough. Your machine internals may get hard water scale deposits, specially the filter at the bottom.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Planning to get a Dyson vacuum cleaner for home. They have the V8+ absolute which can be used for hard floors as well.

Any reviews. They are expensive at 39K for V8+ and 45K for V10. Had a home demo and was pretty impressed. Looked very practical and can easily be given to maid or self to replace brooming.

Sorry if this is too late, but my parents have the WD3 and they love it. It comes with the basic attachments but you can get some more on Amazon.

The only con is that it is not bagless, however the included bag can be emptied and reused a couple of months, or even more, depending on how your usage is.

I took the plunge and got it delivered from amazon.in yesterday, and that too at a sweet price. I already have a Karcher pressure washer which is great and I found the WD3 build quality exactly the same. It's an imported one actually sold by amazon.in. but there were so many complaints in the review on broken parts during transit which was a deterrent to me.

Why is the air filter actually provided? Is it for filtering the air being thrown out after being sucked from the vacuum side? How does it work if it gets wet during wet vacuuming. Some review on the YouTube asked to remove that filter before wet vacuuming, is it true?

Can't we actually use the dry vacuuming without the dust bag, so that the dust collects in the yellow bucket base which can be emptied and cleaned?

Thanks Thad. Amazon has 1000 bucks off. 38K for the V8+ absolute with all the attachments.

The V10 is 44K for 15mins extra battery and a slightly more powerful motor.
