Yogi, Hari, Sure thing. Will upload some sample pics.
Btw, my primary research site was Steve's Digicam. I find the reviews very good and comprehensible. Link - [COLOR=#008000]www.steves-digicams.com

Any of the Nikkor or Nikon mount lenses will work with Nikon dSLRs. But the AF-S won't work with film SLRs.

Ok, I'm planning to buy a digital camera. Requirements are:
1. 5+ mp
2. VGA res 30 fps video
3. 3" screen
4. 15k or below

It will probably end up being a grey buy. As of now I'm looking at the Nikon S6, S7 and S50, and a Pentax Optio T20. Leaning towards the Nikons because of the rotary menu commander.

Now will the experts please pronounce judgement?

I have shortlisted Fujifilm S6500 fd. next is panasonic FZ50. . it is available for 21.5 with 2 year fuji warranty from JJmehta. grey may be 17-18K. i choose it over canon bec of 28-300 zoom, larger sensor(1 /1.7"i.e 7.6 X 5.7 mm) compared to canon S3( 1/2.5" 5.76 X 4.29mm sensor) and also due to better ISO performance and aperture range.
Dp review says 6500fd does not have image stabilizer. whereas fuji website says it has picture stabilizer
what is the opinion of the experts on the forum regarding the fuji . shall i go for fuji or canon or panasonic

Canon A710IS Sample Pics

Yogi, Hari, as promised here are some sample pics from my Canon Powershot A710 IS

Testing for colour contract

Night shot

Day shot (Same scene as night shot)

Shot taken in total darkness (Flash test)

Hope these will give you a sense of the capabilities of the A710IS.

Like I said I have to use it more before I can say anything, but it looks good and give very clear images. I'm trying to fiddle around with the manual control so as to get a better appriciation of its capabilities.

Sirji, am trying to stay away from Sony, I don't really like their brand. Though their stuff isn't too bad, I must admit. Also, I was told last time around, to stick with people who make cameras/optical instruments for a living, ie Canon Nikon Pentax etc

It was lost in the aftermath of Memo's crash. Most of our track day pics, 1st and 2nd lot, are from that camera.

I had filtered down the following

1. Cannon Power shot 530, 1.8" display, 5 Mega Pixel, 4x zoom, video recording, 512 memory card, 2 yrs national warranty - Rs.10,500/-
(They say 550 will be available only from the month of May 07)

2. Sony S 500, 2.4" display, 6 mega pixel, 3x zoom, videp recoring, 3 yrs national warranty - Rs.10,800/-

3. Fuji F20, 2.5" display, 6 mega pixel, 3x zoom, video recording, 2 yrs warranty, Li-ion battery - Rs.13,500/-

4. Fuju A 700, 2.5" display, 7.1 mega pixel, 3x zoom, video recording, 2 yrs warranty- Rs.11,500/-

5. Fuji A 500, 2" display, 5 mega pixel, 3 x zoom, video recording, 2 yrs warranty - Rs.7000/-

(Fuji dealers have only the above 3 models)

I had indicated the reason of purchase. Which of the above would be a better buy?

PS: I could not even find a single dealer for Nikon. All the dealers mentioned in website has discontinued dealing with it

@Surprise... Among the options I would say the Canon 530, it takes amazingly clear pics for a prosumer P&S camera, has also got the largest sensor size among all of these. Others have small sensors with pixels crammed resulting in blurry noisy images when seen at full resolution.

P.S. I would also advice you to look at Fuji, haven't seen or used a fuji ever but I have heard that sensors on Fuji's are pretty good. I hate sony digicams.... dont ask me why.
