Are these grabs from the video? They are pretty sharp for moving objects.

Price seems okay imho. Any specific reasons for going for this model apart from price? If price is the only consideration, then a simple Google search would lead you to other options.

No these were stills. the biggest problem I faced was locking the focus. i had a split second to lock and shoot before they would disappear out of the frame. In hindsight I should not have used the whole 720mm for these shots.

Hey,

Thought people here might be interested. I have clicked a lot of pics using my HS10. I thought of making an album and uploading the link here so people who are considering to buy one can get an idea of the picture quality.

Please go to link below to check the pics.

http://picasaweb.google.com/harshal8...eat=directlink

Awaiting some feedback from the pros here. Most pics here are clicked using different modes & M and a few on SR AUTO.

Thanks.

Inputs please

These are the photos that I clicked via my FZ18 in the Auto mode. While other photos were better, the ones attached here need inputs about what went wrong and what I need to do to avoid this.

This is all down to movement of the subject, isn't it? Kids... keeping still is not natural!

I'd suggest that you use flash. Flash is good for freezing movement, as well as for illumination. Otherwise, you will have to go for shutter-speed-priority control, and set it as high as possible.

If you did use flash, then I just don't know!

I used flash in few of the photos. In the shutter mode, do I need to set any other settings?

I was afraid you were going to say that. I'll leave it to the experts, then!

I think your problem is focus as well as speed. you can't do much about speed, use the flash, stay close to the subject and shoot when you expect them to be least mobile.

However, for focus what I do is pre-focus the camera by half pressing, if it's not perfect I do it again, until I get the right focus, and then wait till I feel the need to take the snap. The focussing mechanism in the camera selects the focus at which the image is sharpest, and if the subject is moving, it will have a hard time finding the perfect spot. So keep trying until you get the right focus. Also, check if your autofocus it set to center. If it's matrix, face detection or any other funky algorithm, it's likely to fail in many situations.

You have got at a good price. Which site you bought ?

I ordered Panasonic FZ100 in Amazon for $399 (now it came to $375), got delivered in Chicago, waiting for my friend to bring it.

I picked up Panasonic FZ100 in singapore for Sing $ 820/- It came with a 8 GB High Speed card, Carrying case and the usual accessories. I know it is more expensive to buy it in Singapore. But as the wait time to lay your hands on this camera is more in India, I decided to buy anyway there. Worth every cent in my opinion. The HD video is incredible.
