Re: The iPhone Thread

Damn! A 12 Pro Max battery costs 6700? I just replaced a 11 battery at 9450. Too bad I can't travel to Chandigarh in 2700 Rs :(

For all the build up on 2 days timeline. The battery replacement took under 2 hours.

Lets see how this replacement battery goes!

See that ! This is exactly what I'm talking of the varying prices of Official Apple repairs.

IMHO , 9,450/- for a battery of iPhone 11 is too steep.

Kindly share your experience after a week or two of usage. I'm looking to get the battery of my 12 Pro replaced.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Dear All- Good day. I need your help/ advise on the following issue-

I had bought a new iPhone 15(256 GB) on 31st Dec 2023 from Reliance Digital and also bought the apple care plus program. In addition to this bought the apple charger and cable from the retailer ( Reliance Digital).

It was sparingly used and taken good care off with all necessary accessories being put in place ( quality cover, screen protector).

Issue-

The phone was functioning normally and three weeks back when it was going into was indicating low battery, i had put the phone into charging. After sometime when I took the phone for usage it was blank ( dead) and it did not boot.

Took the phone to iPlanet service center and after diagnosis they said that they are unable to find the issue and will be submitting to their apple service centre on 22nd March.

After few days they call me and say that the phone has been returned without being repaired and they had mentioned unauthorized access. They requested me to raise a complaint with the apple support number which I did. The receiver took the details and requested for more photos of the phone from iPlanet and was duly submitted by them.

Post multiple follow ups I have been told that they only got information from their engineering team that there is unauthorized access, and they can't service. I requested them more details on what is this unauthorized access is about as I did not do any service outside (as there wasn't any need) and hadn't installed any apps other than our general ones like GMAIL, Whatsapp. They said they can't provide any further info as per Apple Policy and this unauthorized access can be due to multiple issues like Jail Break, Hacker using broadband etc and only option that I am left with is to buy a new iPhone by going through the exchange program and they would not be able to service.

I wanted to escalate further around this issue and requested for escalation matrix and the support person mentioned that he is my SPOC and there is no further escalation available.

I am pretty much troubled at these turn of events and am appalled with this kind of response and service leaving me with mental agony and financial stress (just completed my 3 month EMI payment). I am now penalized for no fault of mine.

Has anyone faced similar kind of issue and what was the recourse? Kindly advise.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Alright. So the dreaded thing happened.

My iPhone 15 Promax slipped from 100% capacity to 99% in exactly 3.5 months of usage as I started using it from Christmas of last year.

It went through 84 cycles of charge (This is a nice feature where the charge cycles show up automatically).

The iPhone Thread-img_4993.jpg

Compared to my iPhone 14 Promax which is used much lesser as it's my secondary phone and is being used since July 2023 (~ 10 months) and it's still at 100% battery capacity.

The iPhone Thread-img_4931.jpg

Conclusion : iPhone 15 Promax battery is pathetic. I barely get 24-hours with a 6-hours screen time.

Apple & Tim Cook- Down, Down.

Blame the new chip. It uses more battery and hence the heating issues.

BTW, what does "First Use" in your screenshot imply? I bought my phone on the 1st of January 2024, but it showing "First Use" as December 2023.

There was never a heating issue with my iPhone 15 Promax.

First use is the month it was powered on and used. It's a good way to check when buying used to see since when the phone has been used.

I do not see the cycle and first use details in my 15 Promax. Is this after an update?

I think so. I always automatically update every new update that Apple pushes so all my apple devices are always on the latest update.

It is currently on 17.4.1.

It must be the A17 Pro chip in the 15 Pro models. I checked the stats in the 15 Pro Max and 15 Plus (bought at the same time). The latter with the older A16 Bionic is still holding up at 100%, whereas the Pro Max (with lesser cycle count) has fallen to 97%. The newer 15 Pro is still holding up at 100%. I won’t call the 15 Pro models’ battery backup pathetic, but the 15 Plus clearly is the battery king in this year’s iPhone range.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Mine is also a 15 pro max bought in September and my battery is still at 100 percent. Got lucky I suppose. It is the daily driver as well. Got unresponsive after a software update and had to go the apple guys to do a hard reset though.

Re: The iPhone Thread

15 plus
Still maintaining 100% capacity.
I don't even baby it like many people do.
I plug it to charge every night with optimised battery charging and take it off charger in the morning. On working days I plug it in car charger as well in the evening. Never used 80% charge limit as well.

Even the screen on time I get is amazing at times.

I had verified it at the Apple store. The 15 pros were noticably warmer than the non pros.

So could this mean that it was bought by somebody and returned? What does Apple do with phones that are returned within the 14 day window? Do they sell it as new?

I'm sure they do.

I have already proved that iPhone 14 Promax which I am using for 10-months is still at 100% battery capacity. Folks here are quoting their 15 Plus is best in battery health. Well, isn't that what I quoted, as after all it's the 14 promax A16 bionic chip?

Well, what hasn't changed for me is that the battery life of iPhone 15 Promax is pathetic and now I am thinking should I sell the 15 Promax and keep the 14 Promax. But, the camera and 5x zoom in 15 Promax is really awesome.

I just updated to 17.4.1 and I now see the cycles and first use details. Lucky to be still at 100% health after 106 cycles.
