Re: The iPhone Thread

14 Pro Max bought in May 2023 (and used heavily since then), currently shows 87%.

Out of the top hogs (4 apps/processes amounting to 83%), Chrome seems to be the king @37%, followed by WhatsApp 'background activity' @25%.

Are these normal or can it be tweaked to provide more life?

Saw couple of reviews where they were complaining about it.
No issues observed on 15 Pro, 16 and 16 Pro.

Too much time on team bhp threads You can click on Chrome again and it shows the actual screen ON hours. I don’t have Chrome and using Safari only, and that tops the battery usage chart for obvious reasons.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Apple is launching iPhone SE new version today, Feb 19th. Not sure what will be the naming convention followed, whether it will be iPhone SE or iPhone 16E. This will be a modern looking version in the line of iPhone 12/13, unlike the previous versions which were based on iPhone 7/8 with Touch ID.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Was never a fan of the SE lineup. But there were two things the SEs had that they lost this time. An LCD screen and a physical home button. While the first one helped people with PWM issues, the latter were boon to old folks sho lack the dexterity to do swipe gestures. I have seen my mother struggling with the modern swipe only phones. Anyway, we continue to move forward.

Still using my 11 for exactly what you have said. Although the 16e screen is said to be a Super Retina XDR Oled which is the same as the other phones I am still waiting to see the Pulse Width Management (PWM) angle and hope somehow I can upgrade from the 11.

Doesn’t seem likely though as Apple doesn’t really care about the minuscule sales lost from people who can’t buy their phones due to PWM issues.

For those who haven’t heard or know about PWM issues and are interested in knowing more please do a quick Google search. PWM issues with iPhone 16 should make things clear.

Cheers

Re: The iPhone Thread

People in Mumbai, vouching for sahivalue dot com to sell your old iPhones. I was looking at buying the regular iPhone 16. A colleague had a 14 ProMax 1 TB which he wanted to sell.
VijaySales has Cashify as their partner offered 50,000 odd + 6,000 exchange bonus. Same buy back price was offered by iVenus. Just for a lark, we landed at Sahivalue since we were in Bandra for work. They offered Rs 65000 for the same phone and the colleague closed the deal after getting his box and accessories the next day. Immediate payment to your bank account. Infact they advertise the fact that they offer more than Cashify.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Updated my old phone to iOS18.3.1 Yesterday. I skipped the iOS17 altogether after updating it initially and then quickly reverting back to 16.XX (another story).

One weird issue I see in iOS18 is that on clicking the missed call notification, the phone will not dial back the number. It will open the contact card. How to set it to call back the caller straightaway like before after tapping the missed call notification?

Re: The iPhone Thread

Got the newly launched iPhone 16e last weekend since the Xs used by my wife (bought in mid 2019) developed some display issues (most probably due to the number of falls it has taken in past 6 years).

I bought it from Reliance digital store nearby home since they offered the max value of old phone - ₹6000. Along with some store discount, it costed me around ₹50k.

Sharing few clicks!

The screen issue

The 16e; looks like I was the first customer for this model. They took couple of pictures during delivery.

I am keeping the 16e with me and gave my iPhone 13 to wife . I anyways didn’t liked those two big lens design, will prefer the single lens or sleek look of twin lens on X/Xs.

The initial impressions are good. The phone is lighter and build quality feels premium. Haven’t yet tested the camera quality though. It should be better by leaps and bounds.

Flossy Carter's roast of the iPhone 16e on his YouTube channel is too darn hilarious

Re: The iPhone Thread

Question for anyone who switched from a very old Android device to the Apple world,
I'm still confused whether I need the 16 Pro or not, for context, I'm using a 6T for the last 7 years and I thought when 10K phones are coming with 120hz, if we upgrade why not get the "Pro", but my friends who have Apple tell me that I should get a base 16 (non Pro) and an Apple watch to notch up the experience which will be much better

If you aren't in a hurry then you can wait for 17 line up. As per leaks 17 and 17 plus will get the 120hz. I use the 15 plus and I have used the pro line up of friends too. 120hz do make a little difference but I find the 60Hz on my 15 plus absolutely fine and snappier. Try getting it from dubai etc and save good money on pro series.

Best go to an Apple showroom and try both side by side before making your mind.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I'm planning to buy a 16/16e. How much exchange value can I expect for my 2020 Iphone SE ? I called up Invent stores and they said thay they have a tie-up with cashify, but they didn't state a price. They said there's a 3K bonus if my phone is valued above 10K, but I don't think I'll be offered 10K for it.

The phone is in good condition with 95% battery health. Looking at the prices on FB marketplace, I think I should get about 8-10K if I sell it instead of exchanging, but selling it on my own is a hassle.

Check in Cashify website directly. Since the battery is 95% healthy, you should get a good price. Cashify is providing Apple store vouchers (till end of March) with the additional bonus amount. I have iphone SE 2020 battery health below 80% and it was showing 6600+ Bonus 1500 if opted for Apple store voucher. I have previously sold 3 iphones through Cashify, experience with the first 2 were good. While for the last one, the pick up agent showed a reduced price, so had to negotiate with him and at one point I told I will keep it instead of selling then finally he came closer to what was offered initially. So be ready to negotiate.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I have a iPhone 8, which has been a great companion since purchased. Recently, the apps stopped supporting UPI payments as I can't upgrade to a newer iOS version. Is there a way around it?
