Unless there is a noticeable degradation of battery performance, I don't see the need for it. The 16 series is pretty meh according to me. i was keenly waiting for the 16 Pro to upgrade, but apart from the camera control everything was incremental improvements. So I decided to wait another year.

If it's an OCD thing, and that 92 number is troubling your mind, go ahead. US retailers are very customer friendly, but I am not very sure about Apple stores. They are not very flexible unlike the Costcos and Best Buys, I presume. Anyway no harm trying, afterall it's Thanksgiving season.

I took the middle ground. I use a transparent cover so I can still see the beauty of the phone and around half of the time, I remove the cover and use.
I use a $10, 20g polycarbonate clear case. Polycarbonate never yellows.
On the right is the Spigen thin fit on my Pixel 9.

Thanks! I joined the waitlist and it got enabled in ten minutes. There was no waiting on the MacBook though.

Anyway, I never use Siri. Not a fan of talking to gadgets.

Yes did the same for iPhone and it was activated along with the Mac and first feature I tried is summaries in emails. Bleady brilliant to use when you have a long thread of mail exchange and need to know the crux before going in deep. Just like chatgpt, this things does a great job. Yet to try composing and language tool. Really looking forward to these new 'AI tech'.

Edit: Just did composition tool proof read option and this is what it gave me for the post above lol.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Got the iPhone 16 Pro (Desert Titanium) as part of the annual corporate phone upgrade in office. Shifting all data from my 12 Pro to this; so effectively will be using the 15 Pro (which was given last year) and the 16 Pro now. Started using from today evening; being the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Was a little apprehensive about the Desert Titanium colour and checked with the team if they had any Natural Titanium option; alas the only available option was Black; so took the Desert colour (graciously!). I think it will grow on me gradually.

P.s. Also updated both devices (15 Pro/16 Pro) to iOS 18.1; let’s see how this update holds up.

Do share your experience of 16 Pro v/s the 12 Pro. I’m sure it’ll be a significant one. Currently, using the 12 Pro, I was thinking of getting the 16 Pro too; but somehow it doesn’t feel like a worthy upgrade to me.

Also would like to hear how it fares v/s the 15 Pro, being a kinda incremental update.

Feel-wise, it is definitely a great update from the 12 Pro. But since I was anyway using the 15 Pro as my primary device since last year, the 16 Pro does feel like only an incremental upgrade. The thing you will realise the most in-hand is the weight of the 16 Pro, compared to the 12 Pro & 15 Pro. Also, with the screen-size marginally increasing to 6.3" from 6.1" previously, this is definitely evident when holding the phone; nothing uncomfortable though. With the plethora of features now available on the 16 Pro v/s the 16 Pro Max, I am guessing that Apple is consciously trying to bridge the gap between the two models. The dedicated camera button on the 16 Pro does seem like a gimmick for me, considering that feature is not my primary utility in the phone. The battery capacity increment is quite evident and it is lasting me for over a day currently, with basic use of e-mail, calls, social media and Whatsapp; I charge the phone till about 90% in the morning. However, it is too soon to comment, as the picture will become clear after a month of regular usage.

P.s. The Desert Titanium colour is definitely growing on me, especially so with the clear case. I tried using the phone without a case for the first couple of days, but eventually just couldn't find the guts to use it that way.

With regard to the iOS 18.1 update on the 15 Pro, I have noticed a slight decline in the charge-holding capacity of the phone, with the same usage as before. Hopefully this stabilises in a week more.

The Hybrid T is a good case but I absolutely did not like the super glossy finish on the sides and it really adds to the bulk (more so for the Pro Max). On the plus side, it got a proper touch sensitive button for the ‘camera control’.
An update on this. After using the Spigen thin fit for a couple of days, noticed that I tend to rest my finger on the cutout for the camera control button, and because the sides are soft TPU, felt like its easy to pull and break the case. So for now, returned the thin fit, and got the Ultra Hybrid Frost T in frosted black shade (which has a camera control button). Other than Apple (and Beats) OEM cases, the options are so minimum now.

Are these ‘anti-yellowing’ cases? I see a lot of brands claiming their ‘overpriced’ cases to be anti-yellowing. I think I have also seen a claim from this brand. Another such brand is Totem.

Aside, I’m facing a peculiar issue since the 18.0.1 update. The iCloud backup doesn’t happen on its own when the iPhone is plugged to the charger and on wif-fi overnight. I have to manually initiate this. This wasn’t the case before iOS 18.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Does camera lens protector affect the camera quality and does it affect the low-light performance?

I've been using camera lens protector since my iPhone 13 Pro days as the lens cost a bomb if it gets cracked and got it installed on iPhone 15 Pro Max as well, which I'm using now.

But, when I saw the picture difference between my 15 Pro Max and my friend's 15 Pro Max, I found that his iPhone takes much better pictures than mine. Even my friends too found the difference and asked me why aren't you getting the same camera quality as my friend's.

Then, later, I found that the camera lens protector is hindering the picture quality.

After finding out the difference mine and my friend's, I've got rid of the camera lens protector and using without it now.

They advertise as "anti-yellowing case", but some reviews say it turns yellow. The Spigen clear case that I use on Nothing phone is light yellow now. I ordered this just for traveling it from US. Have already ordered the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T case here in India.

What kindof charger do you use? 20w?
By limiting to 80% doesnt it charge to 100% occasionally? (Atleast thats whats written)

Worried if long time under-charging has some other side effects.

Finally joined the iphone 16 pro club (Thanks to wifey) all the way from 8 plus , which is still holding good and will use as a backup.

Now need to get my head around this esim setup.
