Re: The iPhone Thread

Have anybody migrated e-sim from one iPhone to another ? Planning to upgrade to iPhone 16. I am currently using an iPhone 13 with primary SIM converted to e-sim. Vodafone has given below procedure to transfer sim.

https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/...transfer-esim/

I had tried doing device to device transfer but it just fails. In India this is not supported by telecom operators due to security issues. Only way to go about is getting a new esim. Worst part new esim means disabling sms service for 24 hours. I have kept my primary sim now as physical and use esim for secondary one.

I haven't tried personally. But came across this for Airtel eSim
Could be useful for Airtel users - one of the latest comment says ' there is a new step now. You get a call from airtel to confirm transfer and then you get request activated in 2 hours.'
Also as @Jaggu mentioned in his previous post - the SMS service will be disabled for 24 hrs

PS: I am not affiliated to the YouTube channel

Yes, this is how it works, last month transferred secondary sim (airtel) from iPhone XR to iPhone 15. Calls were working fine immediately and sms after 24hrs. After 2hrs wait, esim notification comes to new phone and transfer completes. Not sure if this process is limited to airtel.

I watched a few YouTube videos in AU region where it appears that similar ‘credit fueled consumption driven behaviour’ is seriously impacting the younger generation.

However the difference is the ‘per capita’ earnings.

It appears that sooner than later, we will see significant ‘delinquencies’ happening.

Hey I migrated my Airtel e-SIM last week at the Apple store itself. Traded in my iPhone 13 for the new one. Transferred all data. Accessed and entered in IMEI of new device in the Airtel Thanks app on the 13. Submitted migration request before resetting and handing over the 13.

It takes about 2 hours for the new device to get onto the network. Basically 2 hours off the grid, and you don't receive SMS's for 24 hours as a security measure. Hope this helps. I understand the Airtel / Vodafone folks should also be able to guide with this.

My Jio esim was transferred quite hassle freely. It took about 2 hours for all data to migrate. Only issues was SMS was disbarred for first 24 hours after the switch. I had airtel physical sim and Jio esim. I traded in my iphone 12 hence had to do the transfer at the store itself. The usual migrate from another iphone option did everything for me. I didn't have to do anything extra.

I'm told for Airtel there's now an additional step. Best to confirm this will your operator before the switch.

I messed up the e-SIM migration. I accidentally deleted my e-SIM profile from my old iPhone. Vi Support couldn't help me since they were asking for the ICCID number for verification, which can be found in iPhone settings (Settings -> General -> About). Since I already deleted my e-SIM, I couldn't provide this to them.

This can be resolved by visiting any Vi Store, submitting PoI(Proof of identity) and PoA(Proof of Address), and getting a new e-SIM within 30 minutes or emailing their support. Standard blackout times are applicable for SMS, iMessage, and Facetime for e-SIM Activation.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Like others, recently I had to switch an Airtel and a Jio e-sim from existing iPhone to a new one. iPhone to iPhone e-sim doesn't work for both of them.

So had to request a new e-sims (both have their own ways to do it) for the new phones. After activation SMS service remained disabled for 24 hours.

Telephone providers should definitely provide support for Phone to phone transfer. The process of new-sim etc was a big hassle (at least for me).

It started dropping drastically with less than an hour of useful usage, no other gating issues.

Replaced with a new battery (damage to pocket 2800). Lets see how long this lasts.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Aptronix and Imagine store apple resellers at Hyderabad are giving offers while purchasing new iPhone 16. I was offered an accessory bundle from Pulse at Imagine store which included screen guard, case, camera covers, 30W Charger & wireless charger, but was charging 9K. However, my friend got a magsafe powerbank and bluetooth speaker free from Aptronix.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I am buying a new Iphone 16 pro max base version. Getting it from US. Cost me about 1,06,000 with taxes and currency conversion charges on my Indian credit card. So close to 40K saving on Indian price. Does anybody have recommendation for screen guard and case for this phone which is available in India. Amazon seems to have a lot of options so i am confused.

Buy a Spigen brand guard/case from the US itself

Re: The iPhone Thread

Was comparing the INR and USD prices of the iPhone 15 & 15 Plus; turns out, in view of the current festive deals being offered here in India, both devices are atleast 2-3k cheaper here than USA. Anyone looking to opt for these devices, please note.

For the 16 Series however, definitely substantial savings if ordered from USA. UAE Prices are not as attractive this time.

Spigen mobile cases are best. I am continuously using it since 2012. You may either buy it from US itself or here in India. But the clear spigen covers will turn yellowish over some time.
