I use an Apple Magsafe puck connected to an Anker nano charging brick (30W). And yes the phone ocassionally charges to 100%.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I have a query about wireless Car Play and in car phone charging.

I use an iPhone 14 (September 2023 model). Occasionally, in my home town, I connect to CarPlay wirelessly and I observed that my battery health has taken a massive hit because of that. After 2-3 road trips of 6hours drive, my battery health dropped from 98% to 92%. I observed that my battery health took a hit even when I charge it in my car (car charger plugged in)

I have always used the official bundled cable (Lightning to type C) and I always use the official charging brick when not in car (MacBook’s 30W charger or iPhone’s 20W charger)

At the end of 1 year, 2 months, my battery health is hovering at 87% which doesn’t seem normal.

Is there any recommended way to connect iPhone to car?

You may use wired CarPlay at the cost of the wireless convenience. Or Weblink or only Bluetooth mode for music & calls. You can also see if just connecting wireless carplay without using the wireless charger is a feasible option for you or not. If your journey is short, you can try it.

Thanks.

Have been using Wireless Carplay since over a year now and haven't observed any heating or battery degradation yet. However, I generally refrain from charging the phone in the car simultaneously while using Carplay.

Re: The iPhone Thread

My iPhone 14, about 10 months old, sometimes doesnt ring - the caller says they hear the ring, though. But my phone is silent. Apart from the updates, could there be any other issue ? Has anyone faced this ?

Re: The iPhone Thread

My missus iphone - 13, purchased about 3 years ago is now hanging at times. The phone rings and when you try to slide the ringer on screen, there is no response. It is running the latest update of 18.1.

Is it an issue with the touchscreen ? Should a factory reset help or should we look at the next iteration of hardware itself ?

Try giving a shot by disabling the 'attention-aware features' in face id under settings. This sometimes lowers the ring volume if the phone detects your face id.

Absolutely, this worked when my wife was facing the same problem last week as Condor mentioned.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Alright, here is my iPhone 15 Promax story.

I'm horrified that within 11 months and 275 battery cycles, the battery health percentage has dropped to 90%.

I reached out to Apple, they did a remote diagnostic and said there is nothing wrong with the battery and everything appears to be normal.

Was not convinced, so they directed me to their authorized reseller "Best Buy" so I went to the nearest one and they checked the phone (using the same apple diagnostic tool) and everything came out normal.

Best Buy said if you want to take it up further, better to visit an Apple Store.

This is too much drama for me. I have the following option

Trade in this phone for $650 to Apple and get the iPhone 16 Promax or Visit the Apple Store and if they take mercy on me, at the most they will change the battery.

What's your opinion? Even though I dint want to get the iPhone 16 Promax. I'm forced by Tim Cook to take this route.

Jeez...Look this

My screen time is not much and always hovers between 5-7 hours in a day or sometimes lower.

I'm getting about 20-24 hours per cycle of full charge.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Folks - thinking of buying an iPhone 16 Pro Max from Dubai next month. I have two options:

1. Go to Bur Dubai and get one for approx 4400-4500 AED (around 105K INR). This will be (most likely) a cash transaction, and there is a chance the shop can try and give you an “active”/open device which has a few days of warranty lost

2. Buy at an iStyle (Apple authorized) dealer at MRP of AED 5099. Get a 5% VAT refund. What I like is I can pay by card, and the quality will be guaranteed - no monkey business of open box/active/dealer scams

What does this forum recommend? Anyone with experience of buying an iPhone from Dubai?

Re: The iPhone Thread

So, it's been exactly a year. On 17 November 2023 I bought the 15 plus. Please to say it has been a delightful experience. Battery is also doing fine considering the charging cycles. Have never done 80% limit and won't do it ever as I don't see any advantage doing it.

Leaving the battery health number aside for a second, has your quality of day-to-day experience actually deteriorated to warrant action, or is it just the number bothering you?

If it's the latter, then do consider that the bolded bit of your quoted post might actually be true. Nothing more profitable than a yearly upgrading customer whose paranoia can be played upon via a random opaque statistic the company controls.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Thanks. Would anyone know the rate of an iPhone 16 Pro Max 256 GB at Ospree duty free? How does customs work in that case?
