Re: The iPhone Thread

On batteries, I have found the replaced battery is not as good as original. Not sure what the change is. Even on MacBook Pro I found this.

100% agree on this ! I had a similar experience with my iPhone 7 and I’ve mentioned this on various threads too. The device performance just doesn’t revert to original after the battery change; it only gets relatively better than a deteriorated battery.

Yes I have faced this too. It is like even the apple replaced original batteries are of worse quality than their original ones which came installed in the phone.

Re: The iPhone Thread

My 2016 iPhone 7+ is at 75% battery health and I have been meaning to change the battery. The reason why I haven’t changed it is because it is given to my sister who uses it for around ~3 hours daily. The above battery replacement posts are making me confused.

Should I replace the battery or should I let it be as it would be used for almost a year more?

Re: The iPhone Thread

A quick query - do the LCD screens of the older iPhones (7 and older) turn yellowish as they age significantly? The screen of my iPhone 7 is showing a similar sign. The white background looks yellowish now. Additionally, I can see a very mild discolouration on the edges. Both these are appreciable on white background only.

If you are talking about the display background, then the yellow tone can be corrected to white or blueish as per your preference under accessibility> colors setting.

I am aware about the colour filters setting under accessibility, but it’s not that. I think the screen / LCD ageing over a period is probably what seems to be an issue as the screen was surely brighter / more white than this before.

My father's iPhone 7 Plus was also showing a yellowish tint when he exchanged it a few months back for the 14. My iPhone 4 which I turn on every now and then has a significant yellow effect at the bottom quarter area of the display.

The discoloration along the edges happened in my old iPhone 5S in warranty period, and they replaced the phone with a refurbished one.

I believe it was a common problem.

Oh yes, I too have seen this phenomenon in my friends iPhone 5S. I checked up on the google and it seems like the discoloration of the LCDs over a period of time is kinda normal. Supposedly, it's got to do with the heating or warming up of the screen during the usage that leads to the plastic panel under the screen that gets discolored. Not sure if this explanation is true, but it is surely seen in quite a few older iPhones with LCD screens.

Re: The iPhone Thread

The Cheapest Pro

The iPhone Thread-img_1469.jpeg

Bought the 15 Pro (128 GB) Natural Titanium for dad. We did not consider buying a 15 for the sole reason of connecting SSD.

The phone does heat up even after running on iOS 17.1, but does not heat much during wireless charging (MagSafe Charger).

The phone was extremely hard to get hands on, just hate it. The phone wasn’t available with Apple, Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales. A usual check on above stores plus on Amazon, I was finally able to buy it on Amazon. A small calculation also proved it to be a good deal . In total received cashback of ₹6,945 (5% Cashback on paying through ICICI Amazon Pay Credit Card + ₹200 some random cashback).

For now, have secured the phone with Spigen Tempered Glass, a Spigen Back Case (our usual purchases) alongside few cables.

Nice, in our house, Dad (me) buys the phones and the kids get the previous ones handed over to them. This way, we’re able to keep the phones in the family for 4-5 years of solid use.

If you have an Infinia card, consider buying through smartbuy portal. I got the 4000 cash back and 5x reward points which works out to 16.5% back as points. You can use them for flight hotel bookings or to buy other Apple stuff also at 1:1 ratio

We too use our phones for 3-4 years, personally find it hard to invest yearly on mobiles.

Thank You for the suggestion on buying through the specific HDFC Credit Card, will keep it in mind for the next purchase. Wasn’t really able to encash all the benefits due to less availability of this phone.

I also LOVE the Mini Form Factor and bought one a year and a half ago or so. It isn't my primary but I do use it once in a while by simply forwarding calls from my main phone. The 13 Mini is such a nice cute phone and so elegant and portable!
I wish I could remain content with just the Mini but I cannot help but LOVE the Pro Max because of the Camera. Which is why I am going to upgrade my Primary which is presently the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the latest 15 Pro Max. The positive differences are just way too many and this is definitely a worthy upgrade. Saying that, I am going to keep using my little Mini the way I described above. I think it is a keeper. I do wish they create and release a 15 or 16 Pro Mini with a super camera as good as the Pro Max. That will be a truly worthy phone to buy because it will combine capability with portability and a loveable form factor. I believe there will be takers. I hope the powers that are at Apple, consider this. (No harm dreaming I guess!)
