Re: The iPhone Thread

Is there anyone facing issues with health and fitness app post upgrading to iOS 17.2? Yesterday night I upgraded the iOS and today I see no fitness and heath data synced from Apple Watch SE.

Tried unpairing the watch and pairing again. Yesterday's data post upgrade is not synching yet. Any help?

I disagree on this point. For taking photos of kids, pets etc., the iPhone works the best. The shutter lag is minimal (or non-existent) compared to the Samsung flagships (S23/S23 Ultra).

Yes all these shutter lags are in paper, but never seen this causing bad pictures in samsung flagships! Heck even samsung note 9/S21FE taking better pictures then 13 Pro:(.

Samsung flagships produce great pictures (better is subjective, based on one's preferences - natural looking pictures v/s a bit more colorful, processed looks). On the specific point on kids photos, or moving subjects for that matter, I prefer the iPhone. My comments are on based on personal experience of using the S23 and 15 Pro Max.

That's true for any Android. By the time you press the shutter and the phone takes its own sweet time to focus, and click the photo, my three year old would have ran off the frame. I used to go mad when my flagship Android returns all blurry photos while my wife just clicks away in her couple of generations old iPhone. That's when I decided to gat an iPhone for myself.

Androids have come a long way but they haven't come anywhere close to the iPhone.

Thank you all for your inputs! I have ordered the iPhone 15 128gb in Tata neu app for 71k and additional 4700 as tata neu coins as cashback. Wanted to get 256gb but it costs 82k but only additional 750 neu coins as cashback. Have a 1TB Google one plan. So I can manage the storage easily. Thanks once again!

The S23 Ultra is a behemoth, that is true. I see that you already ordered an iPhone 15 but why didn't you consider the regular s23? It is just as compact, also has the 3x telephoto lens, good battery life, more storage, you are already familiar with oneUI and all this for waay less. It's a wonderful little device.

Also, i would like to warn you that the Dual SIM in iPhones is a colossal mess, unfriendly and no where close to how intuitively Android does it.

Moreover, if you are used to Android, you may find using an iPhone uneasy and it is difficult to explain to iPhone users as they are habitual with iOS.
Please watch the following video to understand what I am trying to say, in case you appreciate the little Android things he mentions in the video (as they matter in day-to-day use) -

This is an iPhone thread and I am really sticking my head out here but would like you to have an educated purchase. My intention is not look down on the iPhone as it is excellent in its own ways.

Hi Candy$cars - thanks a lot for your points! I have been in and out of ios and Android in the past years and recently too had an office provided iphone 12 mini, now taken back. The ultra ia beast , no doubt but considering my IT job and s23U weight I get frequent hand pains. I did try the s23 regular one but found it too small for my liking. Moreover my entire household is a Samsung one - right from my parents to my wife and the kids tab , it's all Samsung. Well even my AC, refrigerator, washing machine and TVs too are Samsung!! Hence ordered the iPhone as don't want everything to be Samsung. I am aware of the dual sim confusion in ios and the WhatsApp too. Will figure it out. Thanks again for your points!

Hi All ! Got the iPhone 15 and took time to setup and transfer my data from S23 U to 15. All smooth so far . Haven’t tested the camera yet. But I feel comfortable using this device and it’s such a relief for my hands! S23 U felt like a brick sometimes. I do need an help - after setting up my iPhone , I see that the system data has taken close to 48GB!! I tried many things to reduce it, didn’t work. Any suggestions to fix it ? Thank you all for your inputs earlier !!

Re: The iPhone Thread

I have been thinking of iPhone for a long time. However I have a problem common to most pensioners, Jeevan Pramaan does not fully support Apple so I have to stick with Android.

Normally after confirmation it sends a message to the pension authority which they acknowledge. At most in iOS you can download the certificate which can then be sent by you. Also, fingerprints evolve so. may not match. Hence we do it by a photograph. You have to blink three times during the process to ensure that it is not a photograph.

Not sure why it is taking so much of space. Just checked on my phone and System data is less that 10GB.

I checked with apple support and they have asked me to wait for 72hrs as the system data is retained for 72 hrs after new iPhone setup. System data is basically a kind of cache. Let’s see how it looks after 72hrs.

Alternatively, connect your phone to itunes on PC or finder in Mac, back it up and press the sync button at the bottom. Leave it connected for 10-15 minutes afterwards and it should be sorted. However, i have seen the system data building up to high double digits very frequently in iOS since last few years, making you feel even 128gb as inadequate and forcing you to upgrade to higher storage tiers.

A new iPhone set up takes time to stabilise and may give erratic data at times. I would suggest to keep the phone connected to wi-fi as much as possible in order to speed up the process. It should be settle down in a day or two.

I have experienced this during iPhone to iPhone set-up too.
