Re: The iPhone Thread

I have been a long time android user. But last week Wifey pulled a surprise on me and gifted me a 6s. I was very happy with the current Galaxy s6 i was using. However, getting used to the IOs is proving a bit difficult for me ! And I consider myself a techno savvy person

One thing I really need to understand is the battery charging. I am used to the super fast charges of Galaxy s6. But for a first couple of days I didn't bother to use my Iphone 6s charger and used my wife's Iphone 6 charger. And the charging was Sloooooow. Than upon my constant nagging and complaints my wife asked me to use my Iphone 6s charger that came out of the box. I've been using that too but I still feel the charging time is very slow when one considers the smaller battery apple has fit in the Iphone 6s.

My charger is different in shape as to my wife's. Mine says 5 W on it but I can't decipher it technically. So my question is what is the real life charging time for the Iphone 6s from 10 to 20% to 100%. And can I fetch a higher powered charger for it or can I use the fast charging charger that came with my Galaxy S6 without affecting the phone?

Any inputs will be great from regular Iphone users. Thanks

Re: The iPhone Thread

I jumped ship and got an iPhone ten days ago. Initial impressions are positive. I am coming from a Samsung S5. My experience with the S5 was honestly a very good one contrary to that of most people. Perhaps, maybe because it was a US spec one with different hardware. But lack of software updates while the rest of the android world was on Marshmallow and the fact that I was sick and tired of Android after being an Android person for 3 years sealed the deal for me.

Inspite of having an iPad and 2 generations of the iPod touch, I was extremely disoriented in the initial 2-3 days of using the iPhone. I had a tough time typing and navigating without the back button. Post the initial struggle a week on, I am more or less comfortable. I do miss a few things like the lock screen and homescreen widgets and the customization that Android offers. iOS is extremely bare in this aspect.

I have had this misplaced impression from other iPhone users (5,5S,6) that the phone suffer from battery issues and signal issues leading to frequent call drops. I am happy to report that inspite of the specs on paper the battery life is very very good! and, cell phone reception is quite clear-in fact much better than my Samsung. The phone itself is very fast, switching apps is a breeze. It's extremely smooth and refined and polished. Force touch and live picture are meh! Pretty useless in my opinion. I may be wrong but I feel that the same apps (instagram, snapchat etc) use less data on iOS than on Android.

I am still getting used to it. I read phamilyman's android vs ios blog before my purchase. The whatsapp bit is extremely annoying, where it needs to connect to whatsapp before you can compose a message. I park my car at -2 at home and -3 in office, I usually reply to whatsapp's on my walk to and from the car. I could do this in my earlier phone as it would send the messages as and when it catches signal. In the iphone, you can't even hit send if it's out of data coverage area like in car parking basements and at times in elevators.

I don't like how all pictures, included those I click and those received on whatsapp go to the same folder- Camera roll. Is there a way around it? Like can I have pictures received on whatsapp go to a seperate whatsapp folder?

Thanks in advance.

And the bricking error you have referred here is known as error 53 and this happens when fingerprint sensor is replaced. This was introduced by Apple with a view to avoid hijacking sensitive data including Apple Pay when sensor is replaced. Instead of just disabling fingerprint sensor, the Apple was over cautious in bricking the phone completely. I sincerely hope they reverse this in their future releases of iOS.
Looks like Apple is in trouble for wantingly bricking iphones.

On another note I feel each update is actually making my phone more stupid than better. My fingerprint scanner is not working as usual with the latest 9.2.1 update. Is anyone else facing the same issue with their iphone 6 plus's ?

Mine works like a breeze and I am 9.3 beta 3. Try to add 2 or 3 profiles of your finger. Are you using any skin on top of the sensor?

Re: The iPhone Thread

I think I am going back to Android. I bought an 5s just to see how the apple environment is. I did know my limitations and consequences of buying it. With iphone 5s, the positives are finger print recognition (doesnt matter much ), Better camera and better audio quality. However the storage and the kind of restrictions it puts on everything is too hard for me. I feel like I am slaved to it and cant do much. Whereas in Android , even in non rooted phones, I can pretty much customize everything and they way it organizes files is good. One more plus point for Android is less space taken by apps. For iPhone, i see that each and every update for an app is above 50 mb. Will be buying the Moto G turbo next week.

P.S : I just posted my views, no offense to anyone

separate folder is not possible but in whatsapp settings, you can turn off pictures saving in camera roll.

That is a really good price you got for your phone.
I managed to sell my mother's 6s 16gb which was 32 days old for 41700 and it wasn't easy to get that price for the phone.

What were the reasons for selling the phone so soon?

My mother's 6s got replaced by a golden Note5 for the following reasons -

Bigger screen size
Terrific looks
Relative familiarity with Samsung Note series phones.

Basically there wasn't anything wrong with the iPhone, it was just that she wasn't really happy with the apple experience from the very beginning.

11gb out of advertised 16gb was too less for me to manage. Most of the games or apps should be deleted if I wanted to record videos or shoot photos.

Sold to buy 64gb one and now waiting for the good deal.
