I have used igo and Tomtom on iphone and both are decent. I have used garmin,ndrive,tomtom,igo8,route66 and few others on nokia/wm6 and to be honest, nothing comes closed to igo8 and tomtom. Both have equal amount of options which is more than everyone else. Only thing i miss is garmin`s warnings.

Tomtom works wonders on iphone.

Hi Guys, I am on Vodafone India and am unable to access internet through GPRS/EDGE. I have activated the Vodafone Live 199 plan and I get the blue E symbol.

But when I try to access any website, it says that I am not subscribed to a data service.

I read that I need to go to Settings>General>Network>EDGE and set the APN to www. But the problem is that I dont have and EDGE option in Settings>General>Network. Can someone please help?

I'm running a jailbroken and unlocked 3.1.2 OS on a 3G.

Using wifi go to cydia and download the APN changer.
Alternatively from safari go to Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone
Follow instructions and type in www in profile and download the package directly to your iphone. Will work.

Put the www APN and try restarting your phone. Might solve the issue.

So, i was in the market, looking for a smartphone. Apart from the usual requirements like decent battery life, no application hangups and no phone freezes, i had only three other requirements:
1. Large touchscreen (that threw nokia out)
2. Accelerometer (whats the use of a large touchscreen if i cant put it in landscape mode)
3. a 3.5mm audio jack. The standard earphones hurt my ears.

The only phone that met all these was the iPhone! And to my surprise, the 3GS was available at the shop!! So, i ended up with a iPhone 3GS 16 Gig, factory unlocked.

So far, am loving it.

Looking for an update to see if anyone purchased an iPhone 3GS in hyderabad.

If yes, where?

If no, do you have any idea when they might be available?

Is there a priority given to a particular telcom provider before they get released to all carriers?

PS - I checked with the Apple Store on RD#12 Banjara Hills, and they have told me that it has been launched but can expect to get one only after New Years. For some reason I dont think this is accurate, because i have seen people being able to purchase it (like amitoj) in other cities (bangalore and madras)

Apple store guy is right, 3GS is still not launched, only available unofficially.

Latest rumor is, 3GS may launch in Jan as there is bid for 3G spectrum.
If you want to buy right now you ca get it form ebay or other unofficial sources but take care, its factory unlocked, not jailbroken & unlocked.

guys,

just need a clarification. will the IMEI ruling hamper the use of jailbroken / unlocked iphones in India? Logically I don't see any reason why that should happen.

But I have been asked this question by a lot of people and just thought of getting it clarified here from the iphone experts.
