Looks like we can now upgrade our unlocked iphone directly to 1.1.3 using the installer via WiFi... Is it worth upgrading or should i stick to 1.1.1? Anyone tried this?
Don't upgrade now. If you are on a software unlock, the best best still is 1.1.1. 1.1.2 is a much better firmware, but the Anysim 1.2u unlock is flaky, freaked out my battery although many folks use it without trouble.

And I did try 1.1.3 couple of times, it is seriously buggy. Back on 1.1.2, and using one of the *sim methods now.

Suggest you wait out until the iPhone SDK release, couple of months or less away...

Obviously there is. it can be done by hardware downgrade and then can be unlocked and upgraded again and whoever says 1.1.3 is buggy you seriously dont deserve to mess with the iphone as i have been using it and each and every bug was fixed the second night itself.

Seriously knowledgeable hacker, eh?

OTB 1.1.3, with boot loader 4.9 for hardware unlocks have to wait until 1.1.4 firmware comes out, and even then, only if 1.1.4 has a newer modem firmware with it.

On the iPhone: 1.1.2 OTB UNLOCKED - "If you upgraded to 1.1.3, have fun waiting for 1.1.4! "

I had bought iPhone 1.1.2 OTB around end of Nov'07 through my US sources. But waited for 2 months for Unlock solution and finally risked Hardware unlock which eventually worked but for 3 days. Right now my iPhone is dead and it is not even powering on irrespective of what I do. I gave it to those who have done the hardware lock. They also unable to repair my $400 iPhone! Now it can be only used as paper-weight, literally.

My suggestion to Indian customers - stay away from cute iPhone till they enter Indian market!

It was a tough decision.....all I can now say that for those who long for touch flo phones....go for htc touch @17K

Using iphone as a paper weight is not worth the transaction.

Well if you take unlocking 87 iPhones as yet with hardware unlocks and for personal iPhone with sim solution then yeah you can say that. And where the official dev team is concerned if you actually bothered checking most of the new members are noobs who dont even know what basebands are. And trust me on this 1.1.3 can be hardware downgraded tough there is a very small success rate. whereas the 1.1.2 ootb upgraded to 1.1.3 can be easily downgraded.
