Jaggu,

Thank you. I saw a 25 min video on the comparison between HTC touch and iPhone. Not much of business usage for me, so I am definitely going for an iPhone soon. I wanna see it in flesh before I buy it though, anyone from bangalore, can you help me with this? . Thanks in advance.

"
iPhone4All unlocked iPhone with firmware 1.1.2
We thank all that worked during the past 2 days, working very late everyday looking for a solution. Our method uses SimFree, which is the only solution that works with 1.1.2 firmware. This proves once more that SimFree IS the BEST unlocking software; so far we have survived ALL of the updates, and have proven to be safe and reliable."

Please let us know! I also got the SBI flyer. They are saying 25999 + 5.5% fees. Are these Made for India iPhones? Will these have any issues? I'm verrryy interested!

Not in the normal way you would do with a Nokia etc.

The really crappy way to do this would be to run a proxy server on the iPhone, and connect to that proxy server using wireless from the laptop. Not worth the trouble if you ask me.

I am sure there are posts on hackint0sh about this topic.

Guys, does the iPhone make sense? I mean, is a proper "for India" version available even? I'm quite tempted by the SBI offer.

shuvd,

Depends on what you wanna do with it. I am also in a similar state as you are, but reading over the net has helped me to get a better perspective of what I am going to buy. There are quite a few features missing in iPhone, but the number of people working on making them work using 3rd party apps is also huge. For example, now you can forward an sms using an application called aSMS. But you need to be on Wi-Fi or EDGE/GPRS. Not that you are going to use internet to send, but to connect to the application on your iphone through the Safari browser. So list down what you would need and check if it adheres to your needs.

As of now, IPSF is the only way. But give it sometime, and they will come up with an unlock solution.
