** Keep an eye on the delivery boy for imported goods. They may demand extra charges on the pretext of unpaid customs duty from unsuspecting customers.

@bj96

How much was the total cost for this including shipment?

Did you get it as gift item or customs paid one, i see the difference is only Rs 100.

Not sure if we get Garmin device so cheap in India?
Garmin device costs 7k in India (with shipping).

Shop in the US from India @ 20North - Garmin nüvi 260W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator : Electronics

For 9k you can get Garmin wt that has bluetooth as well.

However, it would involve waiting for 3 weeks. In my experience that the time it takes on average.

Thanks alot for all the replies but am all confused, which one to go.
Friends in US says TomTom, then Garmin and then Magellon.
I read that TomTom doesnt work here, Garmin doesnt support a video player,
Magellon i found one as below:
Shop in the US from India @ 20North - Magellan RoadMate 1470 4.7-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator : Electronics
But i found a one i liked a lot on Deal extreme. It has a 600MHZ processor it says..
Its 5" screen and it has video player. I dont need Bluetooth as my Punto has it.
And all this for around 5.5K..
Can anyone suggest me if this is good?
https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30501
Also friends here says u can get hacked MMI maps and software and no need to buy, is it or.... Please help!!

INR 1275/- Customs paid. Want to help reduce the budget deficit . I guess price has fallen by few hundreds since I placed my order. The way I am going to use this is as follows:
1. Original Garmin dash mount (plate) pasted on Safari's dash
2. This one, portable, goes into wagon-r and anywhere else.

Are you sure about the upgrade costs ? As per my understanding, its 900 INR, and the upgrade may be every 6 months.

Buy her a portable DVD player instead, and carry it around. Doubles up as a personal stereo player on the beach and keeps my kid occupied on the road too.

OT: Anyone using "audible.com" subscription on Garmin Nuvi? I have one audio book loaded on it- but the accent is too alien for the kid to enjoy!

Hi Shamanth,

looks like there is a protective sticker in front of LCD. Please remove it I think you should be fine.

recently I have ordered one through Autoworld and it got delivered to me
on 3rd Dec. While opening the package, I found the LCD screen of the device has got a 'V' shape crack and may be because of the impact the touchscreen is not 100% operational i.e some keys are wrongly functioning.

I have spoken to Autoworld (also sent them email) but they says that they are only dealers and MMI will have to do something. Whereas MMI says since I purchased this through Autoworld, they are not responsible.

The product got damaged in transit (autoworld sent it via speed post).

Alternatively, MMI asking to pay around Rs.3500 to replace the LCD.

I dont know what is going to be the final result ?

Thanks
You mean the see through sticker?
I have removed same, but the crack is on the LCD screen (like 'V' shape)
also the MENU button is not working properly (never gets proper window on pressing the MENU button hence not able to do any function -however once switch on the device and keep it on the car, it will show the route where I am driving, which is not much useful).

Did you raise the dispute in ebay? Enter the customer rating also with all 1 star and mark feedback as negative, dispute will get raised automatically.

If the seller don't respond to this dispute, you will get a full refund.

@shamanth

Yes, its going on. I have given a negative feedback and seems his listing has taken out (checked yesterday but was not there).
Also, written to Ebay and Notice sent to seller through paisapay. All these may take days to get some result however I wanted the navigator urgently but all gone waste.
last weekend I drove to Bangalore and came back (I wanted the Nav before that) and again this weekend I am going for another long drive. So no use of this device.
