The garmin NUVI 215W is not even showing on Amazon.com
The 255w shows around 140 USD.

So we are talking sub 10,000 rs for that plus satnav maps if you can get a friend to procure it from the US.

If procuring one from the US is not an option then I guess you can get it thru MMI.

No its not worth.

Even with Customs Duty + Shipping it will be less than 17k.

Garmin nüvi 260W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator < GPS & Navigation < Car Electronics < Electronics : Electronics - Shop in the US from India @ 20North

Total cost of Unit is 9000 (Includes shipping duty etc)
Cost of maps is 2000 (Satguide).

17k is overpriced.

Hey bro, I just checked the link you gave and it is costing 9.3K as you mentioned. Is this site reliable and is this product worth it? I have no clue regarding which is a good Garmin device.
If you think its worth it, I will buy it immediately. Or if there is any other model that you might suggest?

Thanks a lot.

Regarding product:

Its an excellent navigation device. It does not have bluetooth / fm transmitter features.

You can look at reviews here:

Amazon.com: Garmin nüvi 260W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator: Electronics

Regarding Site:

Its a reliable site (In my experience), but be prepared to wait for 4 weeks to get the product. Product will first be shipped to this site and then it will ship to India.

You have two more options with this site:

1. You can get it for 7000 if you ask them to send as "gift". But it will delay the shipment further due to customs.
2. You can pay extra to get product in 5 days.

Thanks Jassi, just saw 265W. That one coming to be about 11K and seems to have excellent reviews. I have been given a shopping budget of 11k for the month (by the Mrs. ) and rather than buy new shoes and clothes I can go in for this.

How do you rate the 265W in comparison to 260? Worth the 2K difference?

Thanks netfreak. The reviews seem encouraging, and I dont mind waiting at all. No issues even if it takes a month. I dont think i would wanna pay extra for express shipping too. Will surely look at the gift option.
Gift price for 265W is INR 10811 which seems pretty good as well.

What do u say ? 260 or 265?

265 comes with bluetooth, which is missing in the 260.

well i read and researched a lot as I was looking for gadgets to buy during my aussie trip last month. And this thing turned out tops over all others
CNET Australia - For A World Gone Digital
Garmin Nuvi 265WT Car GPS (Navigation) reviews - CNET Reviews

Also note that the bads in the aussie cnet review don't really apply to us
The only reason i did not buy it was cos I was restricted by my sis to splurge on gadgets so finally i am running MMI on my windows mobile car phone (htc diamond) and am quite happy with it, cos not only do i get turn by turn directions, but also the phone plays music/videos at the same time and reads my emails/smses and incoming caller contacts/numbers - not to mention its completely voice operated!
I don't think i will go for a gps unit anymore. Google has the best maps (atleast comparing mmi with google), android os adds turns by turn voice navigation to google maps and large screen multimedia gps android based smartphones like sony xperia x10 are almost here!! I'd rather just upgrade my car phone and live with a single converged gadget than have a separate gps + phone + multimedia player.

Thanks man. I use the BB now (and dont think I am ever going back) so having a phone to act as a GPS is not really an option for me.
Plus I dont use the phone as a multimedia player anyways so I guess It would be a good idea for me to get a GPS (plus its cheaper than getting a new phone)
Based on the reviews, I like the 265W.

Sammyboy, you still need to purchase the India Map for rs. 7000 from MMI or for Rs. 2000 from Satnav, right ? (am i missing something ?)

Is it worth paying Rs. 11000 and an additional amount for Maps ?
Instead you get a india map loaded one from MMI with all the features, right ?

Yeah, thanks to you I didnt really have to do any research. Thanks again bro.
Plus going by your gadget collection, why am I not surprised regarding the BB out of the car and another one inside the car

Thats correct bnzjon. But the devices available on the MMI and Satnav sites are much more expensive. So even If i get this for 11K and buy SatNav maps worth 2K its still much cheaper than whats available on the MMI and Satnav sites. Plus I get a better device too.

@bnzjon - not worth wasting time on the stuff mmi is selling - its either the overpriced poor quality chinese stuff or lower end garmin models
Buy MapmyIndia Navigator : GPS Navigation in India | Portable Navigation Device (PND) with India's best maps
