There is no assurance that the ODU would be replaced if gas leaks out after the week. You're right, it does literally read as you have pointed out. I suspect there are undertones that if it works well for a week and there is gas leakage after that it will be 'attended to' by the mentioned team of service engineers! Even though there is the phrase 'in the meantime' used in the post. There is no assurance that if gas leaks out at any time during the total warranty period, the ODU would be replaced! Such an assurance is the least I would expect. I would hate to have the leak fixed by brazing or soldering and a re-charge of refrigerant! I would be happier if proved wrong here.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Hi guys. I have never posted here before, but we are shifting to a larger place and need to buy 4 AC's. Dad has finalized 2 brands: Daikin and Mitsubishi (not the heavy industries one) We are getting the FOLLOWING rates for the Daikin Inverter models of: 1. 0.8 ton for my Sister's 90 sq ft room: Rs. 28500 2. 1.5 ton for my Dad and my 160 sq ft rooms: Rs. 44500 3. 2.2 ton for my 350 sq ft. hall: Rs. 58500 All these are inverter models and are the TOP OF THE LINE models sold in India. I am happy to buy them, but I think the prices quoted are slightly high. Please let me know if I can get a better deal guys. Cheers! Last edited by frankmehta : 16th June 2010 at 22:53. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Ok - after weeks of pondering on what to buy I am finalising the following 3 units - PANASONIC - CS-YC18KKY - 1.5 Tonne Split for my Room. WHIRLPOOL - 1.5 Tonne Window AC for Mom's Room. I need a 3rd Window AC ( 1 tonne or so ). I earlier was finalising LG BUT not too impressed. Samsung was also very average. Someone suggested Blue Star BUT there seem to be absolutely zero interest from the dealer here so I was worried about the after sales. Onida - was suggested but totally unknown. Please review Panasonic for me - they say its got a Toshiba / Mitsubishi compressor which is good. |

| ![]() Hi, I am planning to purchase three units of 2 Ton Split air-conditioners for my office and have shortlisted the following brands: 1. Daikin 2. Hitachi 3. Mitsubishi 4. Toshiba 5. O'General Please let me know your inputs regarding the aforementioned brands and I hope that the premium I am going to pay for these brands will help me in the long run. Also, is it worth getting Inverter AC model? Have anyone used it and how good it works in India? Please advice. Thanks, Karthik. |

| ![]() Off hand I will look at Hitachi, Daiskin and Mitsubishi (Panasonic) as referred brands. As for inverter it works, but how long with the electronics survive with our terrible power quality is a moot point. Last edited by sgiitk : 18th June 2010 at 09:53. |

1. Daikin inverter model's pricing seems to be too low compared to the others in the market. I know that there has been a recent price cut, but I am skeptical about the quality at this price point. Please advice 2. Hitachi's Star range 2.2 Ton with scroll compressor comes with just 3 years compressor warranty. Is this a problem? When I asked the dealer about this, he said that the scroll compressors are costly to replace, which is the reason for shorter warranty period. Thanks!

| ![]() I expect Inverter prices to drop in a year or so. As for the scroll type it gives you the benefits of an inverter without the risk of electronics failure. Scroll is very popular in high capacity commercial systems (say 20TR). Whether it is worth it is a moot point. |
