I guess you guys should wait for some more time, An item from Ebay HK was shipped on 16th september and was in my post box 3 days back (It was a very small package though), I believe the delay is due to the number of hoildays that were in September.

Means - that what you want is not with DX. They want you to contact them - so that you can buy something else...

Guys, me going to US for a short trip.
Any recommendations for a GPS PND that i can pick up from there that will work here in India?

EDIT: Just now saw the SatNav vs MMI thread. Maybe i should post there as well? But NetFreak seems to be the in house expert on this , so will just wait for his response!

The status went through "waiting for supplier" -> received -> packaging.

anyone else faced a similar issue?

Buy A Mio unit (C320 or Moov 300 etc.,) unlock it and run any software you want (Garmin/Satguide/MMI etc.,)

Google is your friend.
However you can visit gpspassion.com forums, and look up the "MioNAV" section.
Miopocket 3.0 is the unlock for Mio's and works with some other manufacturers also

Unlocking the device means putting some files on SD card, and powering up the device with SD card in, and then popping out SD card, and then popping it back in with device on.

I see Mio C320 being sold for 140 USDs at buy.com.
Garmin, Magellan and TomTom are the more commonly available ones.

Garmin a no-nonsense GPS unit. Does GPS extremely well. I would suggest that you pick up Garmin unit and add SatGuide maps.

Garmin would have best performance in terms of GPS fix. Many times it would pick up signal in seconds.

Downside is, you can not run ANY other package in unit. But you don't really need to.

Mio OTOH would give you a "hackable" unit. It runs Windows so you can pretty much any package on it. Thats a big plus.

Both cost the same.

If you look hard enough you can get moov 300 cheaper. Since you will use your own software, the less capable Moov 300s software should not be an issue.
So go ahead, get the Cheapest Mio 4.3" you can get.

Ps: Radioshack has some swell deals going on

In the thread on "Huge Fake Car Wax/Polish" there was a link posted for buying certain costly imported wax which incidentally shows Garmin PNDs available at seemingly very reasonable cost. But how to know reliability of such rather unknown online dealers?
Shop in the US from India @ 20North - Collinite+wax : Blended
