so, whats your quote on the n82, n95 and n95 8gb?
and, can you possibly get the diabled features on the iphone to work, e.g. bluetooth, fwding messages, etc
dunno if you're aware, but the iphone prices in mumbai have gone up quite a bit, 31k as of yesterday.

Nokia's too common. More like a fishmarket. I dont like that.

For the Iphone there's some stock lying around here with older fw's.

N95 8GB has better battery as compared to N 95. In N95, if you use GPS for 2 hrs, i think the battery will dry up. Moreover N95 8 GB has some improvement on firmware which make application to load faster and thus consumes less battery, but recently Nokia released firmware update for Normal N95, which i think has sorted out this issue.
Besides above N 95 8 GB has bigger display, 2.8 versus 2.6 of N95.
One drawback in N 95 8 GB, it doesnt have camera cover as in N 95 !!!

I hope the info would help you in deciding !!!
the differences in firmware have been sorted. the n95 now comes with the same firmware as the 8gb. battery life has gone up alot. so the only differences now are the 8gb storage, the larger screen, no lens cover on the 8gb, no external memory expansion on the 8gb and its 8gms heavier.

my suggestion - buy a normal n95 with the firmware updated and get a 4 or 8gb micro sd. see MobyMemory.com - Mobile phone memory cards - micro-SD, Memory Stick Micro M2, mini-SD, MMC, MMCmobile, SD, Transflash, Memory Stick Pro Duo cards From SanDisk, Sony, Transcend for Nokia, Siemens, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Orange, O2, and Vodafone mobi

Brother finds the n95 too bulky, and the keypad of the n82 aint too good either. So, he's finally decided to switch on the iphone after keeping it idle for over two months lol

any chance of overcoming the disabled features on the iphone anytime soon?

He did switch it on, and within a couple of hours we were on our way to exchange it.
Surprisingly, the n95 didnt seem all that bulky as it looked in pictures, so he picked up a the N95 standard edition.
Btw, that n82 is quite ugly, and the e51i is quite a good phone, quite power packed!!

And, how can i use GPS on a phone, what services do i need to activate for the same?
Would i need to buy maps, or the n95 comes enabled with the same?

manson - before you do anything check the firmware. press *#0000# . if its 12.xxxxx then upgrade it to 20.xxxxx. use nokia pc suite for that.

the n95 comes with nokia maps and for the gps just stand out in the open and go to nokia maps or gps icons. it will find satellites after a minute or so and then pinpoint it on the map.

HTC aka Dopod is actually a OEM manufacturer and hence most branded PDAs you see are by them.

The biggest difference b/w normal N95 and 8 Gb version is that 8 gb version has 128 MB RAM compared to 64 MB in the normal version. The reason why the new one is a lot faster.

A software/firmware can only do only as much. For a phone with so many features, 64 MB is too low. Remember the SE P990i debacle.., it also had 64 MB and they couldnt correct it even after a series of firmware upgrades.
