Its been close to 2 years since the launch of Windows Phone. Launched early this year, Lumia 900 was their best effort. I don't think they can launch a better phone in future vis-a-vis competition than Lumia 900. But so far, forget settings any market on fire, both Nokia or Microsoft are even embarrassed to reveal sales figure. Right now, Microsoft is 'also-ran' kind of player in mobile and a market dud.

I believed Nokia must have gone Samsung way and must launched Android when Android was getting traction (probably in 2008/9). Imagine Lumia 800/900 running Android, I am sure that would have sold more than WP7. But Nokia held on to their Symbian for long and lost it completely. WP7 seemed like life-line but it wasn't. Even now, only way Nokia can survive is to launch an Android phone.

PS: In the hindsight, the name 'Windows Phone' probably was a bad idea. Xbox is successful product. What if Microsoft had called it Windows Xbox? Or Apple called iPhone, a Mac Phone?

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I am confused between iPhone, Android and the new Intel Phone (Xolo X900).
My requirements are pretty basic, should be loud enough to hear + Easy to use text pad for big fingers + Push mail.
I am pretty much logged into everything on my laptop at home and work so don't need anything fancy on the phone.

That would be a welcome move indeed. Android's Ecosystem + Nokia's hardware knowledge can be a huge advantage.

Windows and Microsoft, both are liabilities as far as Consumers are concerned.

Right now, MocroSoft is hurting badly in terms of Mobile marketshare (it is less than 2 %). But that can be a good thing for MicroSoft, since it can shake things up and make it nimble. Surface tablet is a positive sign.

^^^HTC Explorer over Galaxy Y anytime. But I'd consider Optimus Net instead.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 months old. What would be a good price to give it to a friend? I asked a retailer and he says 22-24 depending on condition.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Why is there a dearth of good quality (read : Hardware, software) QWERTY phones in the 15-18k price range ? Something like the form factor and the build quality of a Nokia E6 , but with more updated H/W and OS. Am I the only one here who doesnt want a touch?
Any phones which are expected to arrive in the near future ?

Hi Deepakchan,
I own a Note as well purchased in Feb'12 by replacing my 3 months old S2. I sold my S2 to a retailer for 25K. It was in an excellent condition with just a point scratch mark on the side rim.
He told me in future I wish to replace my Note he can take for about 26K again depending if its in great cosmetic condition. So yeah if your phone is well kept it could fetch about 24-25K. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

The 808 Pureview is available on eBay is it not for 32k?

Nokia 808 PureView (White) | eBay

As per seller :
Quote:
1) This phone is procured directly from Nokia India and comes in a factory sealed box
2) This phone comes with 1 year warranty from Nokia India and ships in 3 days from the date of order
3) This ships from Bangalore, India and comes along with a VAT paid bill
4) Octroi (if applicable) is payable at the time of delivery by the consignee
Quite a good buy and fits your requirements to the T!

Cheers,
K

No I am also a touchscreen allergic person. So you are not alone.
I am now using the workhorse of E series, E63. Super cheap but with 1500 mA battery. Will upgrade to an E-series only. But later. Till this one is dead or gets stolen.
Money spent on Mobiles is a waste in my opinion.

Played around with 808 in one of the Nokia stores..just awesome. The zoom in video and still pic quality are amazing.
