My bad. The update was there for my GNex too but since it will only download via Wi-Fi I did not get the notification yet. Will update at home, thanks.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

For all Atrix 2 users who are plagued with low battery life on 3G can now rejoice.
This is what the Official JB leak 3 has done to my Atrix 2

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-atrix_2_battery.jpg

The above battery life is with 1 gmail account, 1 exchange account, WhatsApp, Viber and facebook all syncing through out the day.
Both the mail accounts are set to "Push".
Network mode is always set to "3G only"

This is a mile stone for Atrix 2 I believe.

Previously I used to get hardly 9-10 hrs on 3G with the same usage pattern.
I think this one can now easily get past 1.5 days of average usage on 3G

I'm on leak 3. I get the battery life (i.e. 21 hrs) in total when I'm on 2G mode. 3G battery life is the same 6 hrs for me. Overall, this is quite a phenomenal battery life you are getting from your phone.

the Phone was not responing once it entered screen saver mode. This was happening irrespective of the screen-saver time-out (15 sec / 30 sec etc). Each time it happened, we had to remove battery & reset it.

Along iwth this, the phone took 6 hours to charge & used to drain out in 3 hours, even without usage.

Samsung A.S.S first updated the firmware / software. Didnt help.

They then replaced the system board, and the phone is working fine now.

I would say tackle it through programming. Toggle 3G periodically through an app. That should help a lot. My Atrix with ICS stock and this approach gave me at least 30 hours. Best app to propose ? Tasker.

Thanks, I was already running V6 supercharger script along with Smartactions app on the phone to optimize battery/RAM usage. I'll give Tasker a shot.

I tried many apps (some paid ones too). Finally ended up buying the Tasker. I initially got overwhelmed thanks to too many options. A few XDA videos and all things got sorted out. Its not just for data toggling alone. You can do a host of other things. Do check it out.

I am extremely satisfied with it. On XDA, I also hear comments to the extent Tasker is one of the biggest reason why one should buy Android! (Of course that borders on fanboyism. But that also says a lot about this power phone automation app)

That means that many apps have all your data.

I installed a Scientific Calc app on my phone today. It didn't require a single permission. Cricinfo should probably need 1 permission more than the Calc app - permission to get data from the internet.

FWIW, I haven't installed the Cricinfo app. It's not that difficult to open up Opera mini & check the score on Cricinfo.com.

I was of the same opinion, till I used the app. Trust me, its the user experience is so much better - more so with the latest updated app.

I haven't tried Cricinfo app recently, but it was horrible till some time back. Cricbuzz is way better. They even have audio commentary for live matches .

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My Mom is using a Samsung Sduos running on Android 4.0.4.
Now anything she downloads is going to Phone memory by default, hence now the memory is almost full and SD card is empty, how do i transfer apps and data from Phone Memory to SD card?,I checked the application manager, but it does not have any option to move the applications between phone and SD card.

You try the latest cricinfo app, I will get the cricbuzz today and then exchange notes

On the web, cricbuzz is faster than cricinfo with their live score updates but cricinfo's commentary and user comments are way better than cricbuzz.

Just wondering, on the app who does the audio commentary for cricbuzz ?

So it was a hardware issue. My phone still has the Sleep of Death when on wifi. Looks like i shall just live with it till i change/replace my phone.
