Was really thinking of getting this, but the Li-Polymer battery pulled me back - it is the same kind of battery which went kaput in Xolo and I did read lot of posts about swollen Li-Polymer battery in general.

Bro, after burning my hands with Xolo, not really sure if I want to take another risk so soon. May be for my next purchase I will consider these brands (Xolo, Micromax, Gionee etc) again.

So - the update:

Placed order for a black Samsung Galaxy s Duos 2 with flipkart now - not really happy with the phone but I think this is the best compromise in the given price range.

Which the best launcher to replace the ToiuchWiz UI Launcher? I am not a big fan of samsung launcher and prefers a clean UI with just couple of folders arranged on the bottom of the screen.

You can try Nova Launcher. That's what I use on my Note with MiUi rom. Pretty neat & straight forward.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Been reading about the 4.4.3 update for Nexus devices for some days now. Looks like all bug fixes, no UI changes.

But I might just jump to a custom ROM before the update is out on my Nexus 4.

Not sure if this belongs here or on Joke thread, but news is trickling in about initial pricing of Galaxy S5.

And that price is 51k.

yes definitely belongs to the jokes thread.
Note 3 was a dud due to pricing and exynos processor. Looks like S5 is following its foot steps.

Galaxy S Duos original was a terribly laggy piece of crap.

Did you try the Duos2 in person? I believe samsung etc are terrible in the middle of the spectrum and just too damned laggy.

Heck, my S3 is non-laggy only with CM11. My friend's S Duos was quite crappy!

I have tried 'N' number of launchers before settling for Smart launcher (free version) in my Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro from past 3-4 months and i am very much satisfied with the same. Very lite, hasn't crashed yet and almost no lags compared to stock touchwiz.

I will say just give it a try

Note:- I am not associated with the product and my recommendation is solely on usage and performance for last 3-4 months

I positively hate the middle range phones from samsung and I have absolutely no expectations from S Duos 2 other than being able to play some music, talking pocoyo and play some videos - and oh, FB and whatsapp too. Since this will be used by my wife, there will be no question of multitasking. But still, I have plans to root and remove at least some of the bloatware - hope this will help to an extent.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Quick questions. Will the LG G2 4G LTE bought in India work in the US 4G network? I can see that G2 4G released in India supports 2100Hz frequency used in the US as well as supports the 2300Hz frequency of 4G available in India. But i need more confirmation. My wife will be moving to US next year so want to make sure her mobile works on 4G connection in the US.

I had used S duos for a year and a couple of months before I literally threw it away! The stock ROM was very very laggy from day 1. Waited patiently for the warranty to expire and installed a custom ROM only to find that things did not improve even a bit.
But I did hear good reviews about S Duos 2. The specs are definitely a lot better than the original S Duos. Might not be a bad choice at all for some one who does not do much multi tasking.

Moto 360

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-moto360.jpg

Moto 360, A game changer from Motorola featuring Android Wear. Success will definitely depend on the final price of the product. Will suit business users as this one looks elegant with the metal strap and round shape. In comparison, Samsung Gear looks a bit too formal IMHO.

Details on official website: https://moto360.motorola.com/

Note: Not 100% sure if this belongs to this thread. Posting this as it is an Android thread. Did not feel the reason to open a new thread.
Mods, feel free to move it to the appropriate thread if required.

The original galaxy S was grossly underpowered. The new galaxy S duos 2 has a Broadcom SOC similar to the galaxy grand.

It may be called a galaxy grand in a "mini" package with slightly lesser ram and 5mp instead of 8mp camera.

If you see the specs, Broadcom SOC has very good battery efficiency and uses the same image processor as the original NOKIA 41 mp phone.
