Doh! I stared at MI5 for several seconds before I realised you did not mean British Military intelligence!

But it is a bit of an odd name for a phone.

Thanks guys for the replies.

@_chikku: I am using Airtel. Is there issue with call clarity or network reception?

@ anky: thanks. Earlier I was trying for Redmi note 4. But couldn't get it in the last week flash sale. Don't want to stretch for the OPT3. Mi5 ticks all the right boxes.

I have noticed that sometimes when I pickup my phone from idle, phone shows full signal strength as H. But when I try to dial, calls don't go through and reception immediately changes to H+ or 4G. Then I have to cancel the call and dial again. This has been the only irritating thing in this phone.

Agree, I am on Airtel KA and no complaints at all on the call quality and network front. I am very happy with mine. Great eye-catching looks and cases/covers very reasonable priced and available.

In fact I got mine for around 16k with Flipkart discounts, some sudden flash sale and 10% Citi cashback!

My wifes Sony Z5dual has incoming problem. It has my old Mtnl Dolphin Mumbai prepaid card. While there is no problem for outgoing calls, incoming has problem. Except few numbers like myself fathers her fathers calls from others are not coming. It gets disconnected while incoming immediately and callers get busy tone after one ring. However outgoing to them is no issue. She is using this phone from 3-4 months sparingly say for whatsapp youtube since she has old Tata Cdma phone for many years.
Called Mtnl call centre they say its ok from their side. I don't remember any settings. When I tried call barring setting I get network network or simcard error both at home network and where we live outside Mumbai area. Software has been updated few days back to 7.0.

When i used the same simcard in another Sony M5dual there was no problem.
What can be the problem?
Can it be solved by factory setting? It does not have sensitive or important data except photos.

You can try the factory reset, do know that contacts and other local storage content will be erased though, if you don't have much important data then just take a backup of the required data, note down contacts and then you could proceed with the reset. If there is still an issue (which I doubt since this seems more like a software glitch), then proceed to warranty/paid repair. Z5 is an awesome phone, hope it works out.

I don't know what makes you want to format the phone. Though it might most probably solve the issue it's not absolutely necessary. Using the sim successfully in another phone has confirmed that from the network side all is well.

Why don't you try cancelling all CALL DIVERTS in call settings and see? Might do the trick....

Couple of my relatives have it. Very good network reception.

Only issue? I found the speakerphone performance slightly worse than mi4, and the camera just as average as the 1+3 (i.e slightly worse than iPhone 6) when clicking baby pictures.

Of course, this is my subjective experience, YMMV.

That said, I'm on RN3 and will upgrade to the mi6 when it launches in May / June. I'm a MI fan. The OS skin is simply brilliant, esp SMS.

This time, the S8 is 5.8" and the S8 Plus is 6.2".
But thanks to the reduced bezels, the S8 is actually smaller than the s7 edge, albeit by a tiny smidge.
S8 is expected at 55k, and the s8 Plus at around 65k.
It should be available in stores by end of this month.

A cousin whose very active in testing phones said it is quite nice. A tad faster than the RN3 - the extra RAM helps. The camera is definitely better though, but still not Moto G5+ level. If you want a good camera, look no further than G5+.

I am using Mi5 with Jio 4G and Vodafone 3G Sims.

Quick points:

1. The call quality is fine (not as great as Iphones but decent enough).
2. Network quality is acceptable though I do not get great 4G speeds on Jio but that is probably a Jio network congestion issue.
3. Has received Nougat update recently.
4. Battery life is decent, lasts a working day, not full 24 hours though
5. The biggest con with this phone is speaker phone performance (lower volume). There are some hacks on the internet to fix it but I haven't tried them yet.
6. Camera performance is slightly better than average but cannot be compared with the flagship phones.
7. Does not have any hanging or excessive heating issues.

I would term it as a mid-range phone and as long as you do not compare it with flagship phones, it is good value for the price being paid. I had bought it during the Flipkart diwali sale with 10% cashback on SBI card so the value proposition was quite irresistible. It is a serious contender in sub-20k phones.

If you are looking to buy the Mi5, wait a couple of days till 6th april, Mi Fan festival would see the price drop to 20k and also 5 percent cashback on SBI.
