Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

People, which is the best phone that I can buy around 20k as a gift? I was thinking of oneplus2. Is there any better phone. Good camera, large memory, sharp 5+ inch screen are the only things that will be used more. No gaming or heavy apps will be installed.

Moto G5 and G5 plus will be launched very soon. Your should wait for the pricing. One plus 2 is a flop. Look at Leno Lenovo Z2 plus in that price range.

Can anyone recommend a sub 10k quality 4G mobile phone? Something which is reliable and works and should have VoLTE.

Thanks!

Try your luck with the Redmi Note 4 tomorrow exactly at 12 noon. The 2GB RAM/32GB ROM version costs 10k (other variants are the 3GB/32GB at 11k and 4GB/64GB at 13k).

Do make sure you are logged in well before time and order it as soon as the clock strikes 12, because this thing tends to vanish in a matter of seconds.

Moto G5 Plus should tick all those boxes. It will be available on Flipkart from tomorrow so do check that out.

Definitely not the OP2 now. Moto G5 is among the best suited at that price as others have suggested as well. Redmi Note 4 is a good option too. Between the two, I would choose Redmi.

So the only thing going for the Z play is the moto mods function? That's it? And 1 GB Ram lower to boot.

Why would someone buy the Z Play?

Why would someone buy the Z Play?

The overall build quality, the Super AMOLED display a superior rear camera, and the insane battery life is the difference. 10k is a little steep, moto might drop the price slightly now.
Can also expect minor software differences, to differentiate between the G and Z series.

I fail to see what improvements the Moto G5 Plus brings when compared to the previous gen Moto G4 Plus?

Instead of paying 15k for the 3gb/16gb G5plus, one can pick up the 3gb/32gb G4plus @ 13.5k from Amazon. You loose out on the slightly faster processor, but gain twice the storage, a larger screen and still save 1.5k😃

The G4 plus is too infamous for overheating, would not recommend anyone to buy it unless you're only using it for messaging and calls.

If you want to use a smartphone, don't get that, it works best as a heater

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have noticed that Moto G3 onwards, the quality of their phones has only gone down.
G4 plus having heating issues.
G3 I had bought developed screen issues withing 4 months. It still works but the screen has lot of discoloration.
Somehow, the G series does not have that VFM quotient any longer.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Got a Moto G5 Plus 4GB/32GB for my daughter today @11879/-

Exchanged her 2 year old Moto G3 for 3900 plus 10% extra discount on SBI card to get a landed price of 11879/- over a marked price of 17k. The sale today also gives a free assured buyback price of 7k if the phone is exchanged in the 6-8 month period. Not a bad deal overall. Chose this over the Redmi Note 4 for the much better camera which supposedly rivals the S7 camera with a f/1.7 aperture and better software and hardware management to give a overall better speed and battery life. Also no hybrid sim slot crap here as the G5 has a dedicated sd card slot with simultaneous dual sim usage, as with Jio coming into the picture, more and more users are using the Jio sim in slot 2 for dedicated data along with your primary sim. And it comes with a turbo charger in box which as it is lacking on the Note 4 as a functionality.

Cheers...

That's nice. Feels like being short-changed, buying the Quick-Charge phones but only getting a slow-charge charger.

By The Way...

Bought a couple of 20K power banks this week. One Aukey and one Anker. (It was a mistake: I wanted one, meant to delete one from the cart). One surprise that I had not realised from the product pages is that both do Quick-Charge 3.0 charging! Yes, my X PLay displays "Turbocharge" when connected.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Am confused as to whether I should buy the G5 Plus! I can't see much of an upgrade for this gen over the G4 Plus and why should I put down an additional 2K over the latter. Probably just time that Amazon discounts the product (G4 Plus) further, expanding the margin. One of the reviews also mention overheating of the device while using navigation. During the launch, they were focussing too much on the camera part.

If I need to splurge 17K, I'd rather put an additional 13K & buy the OnePlus 3T which comes with the top of the line processor + 6GB ram. I could safely think we may not have comparable spec becoming the norm for the next 2-3 years. What are the actual drawbacks of OnePlus 3T, if someone could explain

Anyone thinks otherwise on G5 Plus vs OnePlus 3T (considering the value of each device @ its own price points)?

Edit :
I read about Mi6 coming in May with SD 820/821 processor + 6GB ram, in May and a SD 835 processor later. May be it's just me, but I think Mi plays their card well in the sub 15K bracket and not above.
