Just got myself a SGS3 White. Debated long for an upgrade for my DHD and my heart was stuck on OneX but this time I let me brain decide.
Attaching a Quadrant test result of my 1 and a Half year old (full of apps) vs my just out of the box SGS3. The DHD when new use to do a 1667 as the best score.

Folks, I got word from my dad that my new Mobile can be as expensive as I want it to be. His employer gives him a budget to buy gadgets every year for family. Well if you have a doubt that I think you are not hearing what world is shouting at top of the voice and saying, SGS3 is the best smartphone as on date. I am using it and I am very happy with the performance. Amazing phone with lovely looks and feels lovely to hold.

Go for HTC ONE X. Feels and looks expensive unlike the S3 which looks cheap with all the plasticky feel. Also has a better camera,screenm and sense 4 which is much more good looking than touchwiz. Also the sound quality and loudness level is higher on the htc as i have tested it with headphones.

Kindly ask your family to consider adopting me! I've heard of family health care as part of a package, but family gadgets!

I would take the iPhone off that list because of two things. One, I think it is just too expensive (even if it is someone else's money) and, two, it means not just buying a phone but buying into the Apple way of doing things. Of course, if you are already into Apple stuff, then the opposite probably applies.

I also feel that Apple's area of expertise, superb design, is actually now looking a little dated.

Theres gonna be a new iphone pretty soon. The novelty factor is not going to be there with 4S. So I think its pointless to buy the iphone 4S now.

If a phone has to be bought right away then Galaxy S3 it should be. One X is more polished in looks but it aint no S3 that is simply superior in every other department.

If you have a 2-3 months waiting horizon then you will have some interesting choices - the Note2, HTC's Note competitor, iphone5 etc.

Ethan, I beg to differ, If HTC was superior in all the things mentioned by you then it would have been the best phone in the world and not SGS3, SGS3 does not have cheap plastics but only plastic, now coming to why plastic when other phones are doubling up as weights for muscle building, in my opinion it is to ensure that body weight is kept low so that a fall will not have a major impact and also sleekness can be maintained. If you would have held phone in your hand then I don't think this comment would have come.

Camera, there is a very marginal difference which can be identified only by a professional, but a professional will prefer using a proper DSLR/SLR for photography and not camera.

Screen, Well for your infor SGS3 has the best screen as on date, its viewing angles are great and even in Sunlight it has the most easily viewable screen.

Sound quality have read in many blogs that inspite of HTC using Beats software for quality, it looses to SGS3 in this department to. GSMAREAN had carried out a comparison which you can refer.

Would love to hear and correct myself in case I'm wrong anywhere.

actually I have held both OneX and S3 in hand and S3 does not "feel" in the same class at all! It does feel a cheap chinese device!!! Wish Sammy could make it lot more premium.

In all other departments though, including photography it is better than OneX. The best thing is samsung has promised better update cycle than others.

I had a SGS2 before I switched over to SGS3, my SGS2 had many accidents including my daughter throwing it once, If I'm correct my phone had fallen atleast 15 times in last 1year and twice on tarmac, but due to its all plastic body which in turn made it light, i did not notice any major impact except few dents. Any other mobile or so called classy mobiles, I would have lost my screen or would have suffered other damages too..

Now this is all my assumptions which I feel is accurate to 99%.

Can't imagine all manufacturer making plastic phones just for the fear of dropping.

I don't want to start HTC vs Samsung war and feel both phones are equally capable.

For me, 2 main reasons for choosing HOX was 1. Beautiful sense 2. HTC designs are 2nd best after iPhone.
Rest all - performance, battery, camera, GPS, display are just few points different across all the top end phones which only matter in lab environment and hardly matter in real world.
