Any HTC desire 500 users here. How do you maintain the back panel?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Planning to acquire a Moto G and a Moto E. The specs say the battery can't be removed. Can't they be replaced?

Yes, both of them have non removable battery packs.

But they certainly can be replaced by the service centre, just like all other phones with non removable batteries.

Buy the HTC One M8. Only drawback is a slightly poorer camera versus the other two.
I would avoid Samsung (though its a personal bias).

I too would go for the new HTC One.

The build quality of that thing is simply exquisite!

I was in the same dilemna a month ago - choose the Xperia and no regrets at that.
the Samsung GS3 that i replaced gave me only 6-8 hrs of usage time.

The Z2 gives me 36 hrs in the same mode of usage.

Camera is fantastic and that itself should tilt the choice to Z2.

Camera and battery backup were the deal breakers with the HTC.

The build quality of the Z2 is very nice.

I was anxiously waiting for the M8 and Z2 was not even in the contention. when I got to mess around with both, choice was clear - Z2 it was.

I would also recommend HTC One M8, they make great phones! Build quality & HTC Sense UI is awesome!

BTW my last 3 phones were HTC, currently using HTC Butterfly

So all of you are saying to stay away from Samsung Galaxy S5. So now I should decide between Z2 and One M8.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

The Z2's trump card in my books would be its dust & water repellent feature. Believe HTC users have access to some apps where they can personalize their phones.

HTC should be the better looking one.

Personally, I would go for a manufacturer which will not lower its flagship phone price every month.

Samsung S5 can be had for below 45K I believe.

Go to a store, where you can experience both phones and then pick the one you like.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Can someone help me understand the excess permissions required by Android apps and how to you restrict them ? One option is not to install the app at all but then most of the apps I see on play store seem to be asking for permissions that don't make sense to me, perhaps I don't understand them that well?

e.g. Installing antivirus apps like AVG or Avast , I see them asking to access location, camera, your personal information, phone calls, your account and more. Why would they need all these and more?

Which apps do you use to restrict such unwarranted access?

Whats wrong with HTC? Can you please give an example based on personal experience, so that it will help prospective buyers?
