AFAIK, the update only blocks tethered rooting, which isn't all that useful anyway. The update does fix some old security vulnerabilities in android, so yes it's a no brainer to take the update. ![]()

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() My Nexus 5 is also undergoing the 4.4.3 update. I wanted to read about it first (over here) and then upgrade. But seems, it is okay to update. Dr. Mohit - I too am not very happy with the battery life. But, I shall blame it on the small battery, its a mere 2300mh. Note 3 has 3800mh battery and it really lasts (big screen & almost similar usage) Lets hope the update enhances the battery life a bit. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (SM-P601) tablet received an 575mb OTA update to 4.4.2 yesterday. Updated baseband is P601DDUCNB3 with build KOT49H.P601XXUCND6. Feels quicker but looking forward to the weekend to experiment :-) |

Well i agree on this. But after installing a custom rom and a custom kernel I easily use to get 22 hrs on moderate usage. Purity rom is really good and Franco kernel is best for battery. |

| ![]() I have a Nexus 4, a couple of weeks back my power button had started to malfunction. However the problem was sorted out by the remedy suggested by the Google support team. Anyone here experience any issue with their power button on the Nexus 4? |

I occasionally have a problem. The long press does not throw up the menu for vibration shutdown etc. Then I need to do a forced reboot with the power and volume buttons. That works. After the reboot it works fine. Can you share What remedy Google support suggested. |

| ![]() The Google support team gave me 4 options viz; 1. Restore the device, which entailed loss of data, I wasn't ready for that. 2. Delete all Apps. They said the problem might be à third party app which might have corrupted the system. 3. Change the hardware,i.e. the circuit which powers the power button. 4. But first let the phone completely discharge is battery and then recharge of once again. If this works that means it was a simple software issue which got rectified on restarting the device. I tried the last option and my nexus worked just fine. Try doing that, if you are facing such an issue this may just resolve it. Cheers, Vinay. |

How do you do that? To be honest, I am basically at sea with these terminologies. Thanks ![]()

Got remedied on restarting the phone. Basically kept the volume down button pressed. Then simultaneously kept the power button pressed for 10 seconds or so to reboot. Last edited by Top-Gear : 8th June 2014 at 21:02.

Well you first need to root your device. There are many toolkits available which makes this really easy if you doing it for the first time. Then install custom recovery. Installing custom recovery too can be done via the toolkit. Wugs toolkit is good one. Search for it on Google. Then flash a rom and then kernel. Tutorials for the same are available on Xda. If any queries then you can give me your number and I will be more than happy to assist you on Whatsapp ![]() Thank you
