Thanks a lot maniac bro:D. Just 3-3.5% with 3g data enabled and sync ON ?:Shockked: So, it will last 12+h with data ON? My Galaxy SL just dies in like 5h max. Even if we browse continuously, it will last for 5h eh? Seems, S3 has much better battery than I thought.
What if we are not enabling data and watching videos/movies continuously?

Let me clarify it a bit for both of you , Sync ON is not exactly same as browsing. Browsing does consume more power the reason is there is lot of parsing , running of Java Script and rendering involved in a browser.
Webkit based browsers ( Including Samsung S3/Note 2 OEM and chrome)
run at-least 6 threads.

Sync is once in few seconds activity depending on the sync settings and how many syncs you have activated.

One more doubt. Is overnight charging very bad for the battery? I mean, are there phones which will automatically cut the charging when 100% charge is attained, and will return charging again when it lowers to a particular level, like 90% or so ?

From my understanding it should not be bad in a good phone.
Battery drivers are written to check hi/low water marks and cut charging accordingly . Having said that if this code is badly written then yes it may damage.

5h :Shockked: How can you live with such horrible battery life? I strongly believe there is some issues with your SL then. On a side note, my Note 2 drains only around 2-2.2% per hour with 3G data ON and Sync ON :)

Yea. 5h it is, with just Sync ON. Not joking :D. I do have lot of Sync btw. Whats-app, facebook, gmail , twitter etc. Still, my friend's Xperia X10 has much more battery life than mine. Problem is, at my College, only 3G network of Airtel gets range. 2G network has no range. Dunno why. So, I have to use 3G at College from 9am. But, if i switch on the data, the phone will be dead before 3pm. So, i have to switch On and OFF after every 2h to check the notifications .:Frustrati

I guess my battery is weak as well. I was doing over-night charging since past couple of months. Guess battery is getting bulged out. So, looking for an upgrade. Waiting for Xperia Z to come out. Seriously like the Note2 ,but carrying it along on my bike seems a difficult task. Either Z or S3 it is. Any idea about battery life in Xperia high end phones ?

Nope. Tried clearing data for Google Services Framework and then checking some 8-10 times but still no update.

Anybody here got Xperia Z from abroad, or any of your friends ?

Btw,S3 users, can you please tell me how is average battery life on the S3 under the following conditions :

1. 2G, GPRS enabled and browsing continuously .
2. 3G, data enabled and browsing continuously.
3. 3G network with data enabled, but phone in standby mode.

I am using s3 from last couple of months. Battery backup is good for me. With 2g data and sync for Facebook, outlook, Gmail on 100%, wifi 80%, an hour of browsing, 30 min of game play, some music etc it gives me about 30 hours of backup.
If I turn on 3g continously then backup reduces by about 5 hrs.

Pricing of Micromax Canvas HD A116 announced; will be available for Rs 13,990.

:uncontrol. No I won't dare asking you change residence. What I was mentioning was, signal strength topping off at 19asu was an issue with Moto GB & ICS ROMs of Atrix 2. But with the JB leak, now the limitation is gone and phone goes well over 19asu. I've seen 27asu. I am not sure of why this was done, may be for compliance with SAR regulations.

Nailed it! The signal at my house is indeed VERY weak. Be it 2G or 3G, I get between 16-20 asu only.

I didnt have to go too far. As soon as I entered the park for my evening walk (it is barely 650 mtrs away from my house), I checked and voila, I was getting between 27-30 asu there!

BTW, is there a command or an add-on in Llama to enable/disable background data? I couldn't find it.

You could flash some other modem version. Did this on my s2. Signal strength went up from 12 asu to 22 asu

Not needed. WajkIUI is indeed the best ROM for Defy.

SAR cutback service is absent on JellyBean 'leak' ROM for Atrix 2. It was present in GB and ICS. That's why signal is strong, I suppose SAR value is also higher now.

If I want to drive to, say Bangalore, I will put Bangalore in Gmaps and start driving. I don't get freezes, or any hassles like you mention.

Couple of months back, I had driven from Tvm all the way to Coimbatore and then Ooty, and had my return trip via Nilambur, all the time Gmaps was up and Navigating me. No issues whatsoever. It just worked. I didn't even use the GNex phone, it was old HTC desire running CM7.1. Best thing was, since I used GMaps and not something like Navfree, it could navigate me to the doorsteps of the hotel where we were suposed to stay. Upon reaching Ooty, I didn't have to switch Navigation app or ask humans.

Tried out google maps a few times. It worked perfect on 4 occasions. Failed once due to network connection issues midway through the trip. I had to stop my car, sort out the connection issues and then re-start journey again.

Overall, I'm happy with its performance. Much better than what it was a few years back. Thanks for the recommendation. :)

Llama I also never found such a thing. Practically disabling account sync will also have similar effects I guess.

Yes but it was absent in AT&T version of A2 from GB days.

I have contacts on my sim card that I have imported to my phone's contact book.
Now how do I sync these sim card contacts to Google contacts?
I tried auto-sync but it didn't work.

Hey Samurai, Why don't you see if you can manage to pick up a Galaxy Nexus. I hear its still available in Mumbai at around 20k, or probably pick up the Nexus 4 using bordelinx.

I have been using the G-Nexus for a couple of days now and the battery life is much better than my A2. It's lasting around 27 hours with 3G on and moderately high usage. The N4 should be even better.

What's your device build? The takju update was released first. Yakju update was rolled out yesterday

No it doesn't. I have Account Sync enabled everyday at night for 10 mins. But I checked and it doesn't enable background data. Some apps (like FB, Twitter, Tweetcaster) specifically require background data. As soon as you enable it, updates and notifications start getting pushed to the phone. And even if Llama does account sync for 10 minutes as per schedule every night for me, I don't see those push notifications appearing.

+1 to that. Either pick up a GNex from grey market for 20k or get hold of a Nexus 4 from abroad for 22k.
