Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Parent Honda is suffering too badly - Annual profits dropped by 65%. They wont find it easy to take all this in the stride. The City price cut could be just a beginning .

Professor, I don't remember Honda ever dropping prices on outgoing models, at least not in India. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

While I've been one of the many crying hoarse for a price rationalization (and I'm very happy that they've taken one step in that direction now), new designs and models are the order of the day. Let's see what they've got in the pipeline.

This is better than adding a useless sunroof for 50-60k. Even better would've been to get up to par with competitors on features with no(minal) price hike.

spadix

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Yup - they are dropping prices all right!

Honda India : The Way Forward-honda.jpg

Notice the 'price section is being updated'

Also - GTO says here that Jazz price correction is also imminent - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2391020

This should really bring in customers - because except the price - the Jazz is a wonderful car!

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Yummy! Things have started to move now!

I will really consider upgrading my old Santro for a Jazz if its reduced by 65K too
The problem is that I love my Santro as much as the new Jazz (or maybe more)!!

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Finally Honda's on its knees!! I'm loving this. All these years they exploited the market when there wasn't an alternative which was good enough. Now its payback time. From all those price conscious Indians (me included)!

The article was published on October 09, 2008 and they (burnyourfuel, automotiveinfo) are just doing this to spread rumors. The picture is taken from the Sydney motor show way back in oct 2008.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Folks, whats news on Jazz pricing? Or are they really stripping it down as we discussed on this thread?

I think its a blunder that they have delayed this, instead of clubbing it with the City's cut. The market will begin to anticipate that there will be price cuts on the entire range and wouldnt that be a bad, bad thing for Honda?

No change yet.

I asked for a quotation from Shubh Honda last Friday and the rates for all 3 variants are still the same - plus offer of 55K discount and Rs.1/- insurance.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-deals-38.html

It's pretty imminent, though. I think they are waiting for the Etios Liva launch and it's final pricing, before announcing the Jazz price cut.

My take on the possible Jazz price cut - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...ntinues-3.html

Diesel City?

I recently got my Civic serviced at Ring Road Honda, Gurgaon.

One of the floor supervisors was with me on the post-service test drive and we started talking about Honda's cars in India in general and the Civic in particular.

During the course of this little chat he mentioned the Brio launch in December (which we all know now) and a diesel City launch next year!

I wonder whether this piece of information is true or just idle speculation/hearsay on the floor which somehow "became" fact over time.

Has anyone else heard something to this effect?

Regards,
spadix

There's a thread lost somewhere which discusses Honda's statement that it would have a diesel powerplant in 2 years time. This news came about 2 months ago IIRC.

The only way what the SA said could be true is if Honda use's someone else's engine - personally, doubt that though.

What about the facelifted City? That's supposed to come this year. Any news on that?

Must read on parent Honda company:
After Civic bruising, Honda fights for its soul | Reuters
Has The Honda Accord Lost Its Magic?

I am seeing many Japanese brands falling victims to their own success. Nobody doubts Honda's quality. However they were caught napping with existing technologies to loose the plot, like Nokia. Similar to Apple and Google catching a sleeping Nokia unawares -- Honda's German and Korean competitors have started eating into it's share with savvy innovation and cutting edge R&D.
