Thaks for this piece of information. Its a nice way to honour Mr. Su Mo for all the slogging he has done for Tatas. But don't you think there a little bit of pun intended.

San storm while being the epitome of worst fit and finish still isnt the worst car according to me. This is because it is the first Indian Convertible.

Same goes for Chinkara. Nobody has had the courage to make a drag car. Especially with that 1.8L OLD Isuzu engine.

I had owned a maruti Omni in the past and it has been pretty reliable. But That still doesnt stop it from being the worst car on Indian Roads today.

hey maruti is always nice second car in garageunlike zen being used for guests and housewives uses ,omni could be used for transporting vegetables, groceries ,furnitures kids to school.woah what not for that price.and any car at high speeds is dangerous. But atpresent the roads of indian auto is very good, and to have omni around its still bad despite being a muv afforadable by all.It should have been stoped after the launch of VERSA .Anywayz the new model is launched with disc brakes ,how is that model did anyone get a test drive.

lol, so much for the poor old Omni, but like few of you mentioned it does what its meant for. Also we had an Omni for four years & never had any issue, the handling has improved a lot after putting radials. I even dared to take it till 120 kph(speedo indicated) I remember how my friend's used to freak out while overtaking as you are very close to the vehicle in front. My cousing even managed to ram it in one of his neighbours house but surprinsgly the cast iron gate broke & the Omni was standing above it without any major damage :-)

I would vote for San Storm because even though it tried to start a new market its engine & trim levels were not suported by its looks(From what i ahve come to know by reading mags & online reviews)

Btw why is the Dolphin missing ?? It was cheap copy of the M800 & it bombed big time though I have got no clue about its engine, also the Mondana or something(can't recollect the exact name) by the same company which was launched & which bombed too.

My vote goes for the Ford Escort. Terribly underpowered and boy, that was one ugly looking car.

Cheers

Why Maruti 800 is left out in the list? It is the most unsafe car!!!

I disagree with you on M800. Its has been the best selling car for almost decade. It may be unsafe in comparison with other cars. But for the city driving, its a breeze!.. very few other cars are so effortless to drive...
I know a lot of people who have driven M800 for over 10 years with just minor scratches.. So you get what you pay for and if you drive to its merit, you are bound to appreciate it.
In other words you drive a santro like you drive a Pajero, you will comment that Santro is unsafe...

Cheers!

M800 had revolutionized Indian car scenario. It's among the best cars India has seen.

Exactly. The 800 may seem unacceptable now, but, when it was launched, it was easily the best car in our country. Its combination of finish, efficiency, performance and ease of maintenance was unmatched for a very, very long time.

Sumo, Omni, are vehicles that do faithfully what they are supposed to do. That is carry people, as cheaply as possible. Neither did Maruti, or Tata ever claim that, it will handle like a Ferrari, have the grunt of a Porche, and is built like a Tank. So I won't balame them.

But look at San Storm, India's first convertible, A convertible is basically a sports car, with good handling and a good engine. Which It could never deliver (As per the Magazines. They also say its Reynault Engine is quite reliable. Even a 800's engine is reliable.)
So, my vote goes for Sans Storm.

My vote for the Tata Sumo & Omni.

Omni because of the Very dangerous front and also the engine placement - dangerous if it meets with an accident - Crazy it is, that is still sells in such huge figures even today.

Sumo because of the Massive Body Roll - But then it was built for a purpose and it did that well - moving people !!

Rest of the cars I think are quite well.

ANd WHY is the SCORPIO even there on the list ????????????
