Re: Toyota Liva to Roll Out by March (Hatchback version of Etios)

As the Liva is basically an Etios without a boot & a 1.2 L engine, we can safely make the following assumptions:

The Good

- Classleading interior space. The Etios easily meets the Honda City in terms of cabin room.

- Balanced road manners. The handling could be even better without the bulk of the boot.

- Well priced. I consider the Etios to be very well priced, there is no reason for the Liva to be any different.

The Bad

- Same unconventional dashboard.

- Cost-cutting in many areas.

- Crucial equipment missing.

The Doubts

- The Etios' 1.5 is quick and offers superb driveability as well. Will the 1.2 petrol from Toyota be as competent?

- Will Toyota remove the ugly turbo-lag of the Altis D4-D when the 1.4 diesel makes its way to the Etios / Liva?

- How long is the waiting period going to be?

The Etios is the fastest sedan in its category.

Re: Toyota Liva to Roll Out by March (Hatchback version of Etios)

Hey guys, I have just Joined T-BHP today. So was thinking what should be my first post. Here we go.
Caught Etios Liva Testing in Delhi Near Pragati Maidan. There were a couple of those. The cars looked really great. Couldnt get one of the inside view, but whatever i saw was much better than the sedan. From outside it looks like derived from a combination of european peugeot 207. At the back looks similar.

Let the pictures talk. Not a bad one for my first post eh..

There were 3 cars in total. One in the Bluish shade and other were silver.

Not sure where they were moving to, but saw them near pragati maidan in Delhi.

Re: Toyota Liva to Roll Out by March (Hatchback version of Etios)

OT: The Liva will definitely roll out my March. The reason being, the 2nd shift production starts from March in the second plant. Currently a single shift production is on at the 2nd plant for the Etios. They are certainly ramping up production with the Liva being lined up.

Will try and get more information from my source.

Since I am in the market for a small car, I have a few questions on this:
1. If the car will start roll out by March, does that mean we can book the car now (Feb is coming to an end). Else when?

2. Will Toyota levy cancellation charges like Honda and Skoda in case I decide to cancel my booking after seeing the car?

Toyota defers Liva launch till June to clear Etios backlog - The Economic Times

Just now came through a article which says that Liva has been postponed by two months. Bad news for those who are waiting for it. Also may be new swift will be launched by that time and will be competing directly with it.

Hi nkrishnap - Any more information from your source? It is 4/4 today.
Yesterday one of my friend was making a comment that these festival times boost up sales.
I was wondering if any of auto manufacturers targeted this first week of April!

Re: Toyota Liva to Roll Out soon. EDIT : Now delayed

Today a sales guy from Nippon Toyota came to my home and gave me a brochure of Etios. There is a road show cum TD which they are organizing and wanted to give a heads up to all - He was going to each house and was handing over the pamphlet. I enquired about Diesel Etios and he said the launch is delayed till the End of year or even to Jan 2012. He mentioned that they want to clear the backlogs of petrol Etios and then launch Etios D.

He said that LIVA should come this month end or beginning of May.
