Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't find anything "new" about the looks. The creases in the bonnet look new but somehow it doesn't have teh same impact as it had in the new Passat. The rear looks better I think.

Prices not yet updated on the Toyota website. The 7-speed sequential Shiftmatic sounds like fun- anyone know how that works? Related question: why do Toyota's AT boxes look so jaggedy?

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Clicked these pictures of Liva on my way from Mysore to Electronic City, Bangalore (SH17) last week.

The car was speeding at around 120+ and it took quite an effort with my mobile to click these snaps.

The Liva logo on the rear was stickered.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

I want that DVD touchscreen in my Altis ! Seems like an easy fit, any clue what the pricing will be ?

I'm sure this will make it's way to the facelift of the Fortuner too.

Overall good facelift by Toyota, they have added a few vital features such as bluetooth, touchscreen dvd, keyless entry,start-stop, new gearbox etc ! This is a true facelift, unlike fake facelifts by Honda that involve smoke effects to the headlamps that are advertised as ground breaking new features.

Seems like the LIVA will have the interiors black and grey and not brown beige.

BNZJON, did you by any chance to have a peak into the interiors?

Looks better than the current altis. Is there an official team-bhp review coming up?

Just one question to all, why the Etios and Live have to look the way they are. Have toyota lost all the sense for styling. The lexus and the scion from the same brand make some awesome looking cars, why not toyota.

A very good question. Usually very good questions do not have an answer.

The "stunning new Altis" might have just stunned the Toyota executives only. Nothing has changed in this car from 2003.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Frankly, the "designed for India" Vento, City and even SX4 have killed off whatever premium the Altis holds. The Civic, Laura and Cruze at least have brand appeal going for them but this is after all a Corolla- the "sensible" brand- and who wants to pay a premium for that?

But the Etios/Liva is truly hideous: it's a little insulting as an Indian that a car designed purportedly for me has to look like that!

I couldn't look at the interiors clearly as i was tying to keep pace with the test driver of Liva. He was driving dangeorously rash and was bothered with me clicking pictures.

IIRC, the dash was in all black and i dint see any beige inside.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

I had seen the new altis yesterday, and I believe it was going through some kind of testing, as the logos and badges all around were tapped out. Both inside and outside. By the time I could click a picture of it, it had moved away. This was in front of Manipal hospital, Bangalore

I believe it is the same car, as in post 117. But, why is concealed testing going on at this late stage

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Couldn't find this info in the previous 2 pages so pasting it here.

http://www.zigwheels.com/news-featur...aunched/8709/1

According to the article, power is bumped up to 140PS (173Nm torque) & a new 6 speed manual gearbox in comparison to earlier 5 speed manual (I am guessing they meant 6 forward from 5 forward).

If this is true, it sounds exciting.

Not to get into any argument but i personally own a Corolla Altis and i would pay a premium any day for it over the Vento, City and Sx4. The civic has a mediocre feature list, is low and hits every speed hump. The laura is expensive and the skoda after sales issue, and the cruze has an annoying city driving turbo lag.

i have been using the Altis since 2 years and i moved to it from the city and the civic and can proudly say best decision ever. Car is rock solid at speeds of 140-150 on the highway, good body roll, good mileage in city and highway even for the 4 speed auto though i wouldve liked having the current 7 speed one, very comfortable ride, doesnt crash on every speed hump (mind you my civic and city both used to hit every speed hump when loaded with 4 on board) and so much better toyota service. Honda service is nothing better than what Tata service is.

Toyota only gives what is enough its not ever going to win a prize for being desirable but as a product i think theyve got the corolla altis spot on.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

When you say good mileage in city? How much is good mileage? Also have to keep in mind factors like
1)Petrol/Diesel?
2)Auto/Manual?
3) With AC/Without AC
Cheers
I'm asking not to offend you, but with petrol prices touching the roof, the "kitna deti hai" attitude is an important factor to keep in mind in the near future for a long term investment
